Bragg tries to use gag order to jail Trump
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is now demanding that Joe Biden campaign donor and Democrat Judge Juan Merchan throw former President Donald Trump in prison for 30 days if he violates the unconstitutional gag order Merchan hit him with for a second time.
Trump lawyer Alina Habba told Fox News Channel’s Martha MacCallum that Trump and his lawyers were worried about this threat as the order to restrict a Presidential candidate’s political speech is blatantly unconstitutional and that the matter is out on appeal.
“I don’t think so. I think that he is respectful, but there has to be boundaries and we should appeal it. It’s currently on appeal. So, there’s also a due process element to this. We have items on appeal in this case that have not yet been heard,” Habba stated.
She added that if Merchan sent Trump to jail for exercising his First Amendment rights he would be a modern-day Nelson Mandela.
“I, I don’t, I think like anybody, he’s concerned about going to jail. But if they put him in jail for his First Amendment right, he will be like Nelson Mandela. I mean, that would be just absurd,” Habba added.
Trump compared himself to Mandela in the past
Mandela was a member of the communist party that South Africa’s apartheid government imprisoned for 27 years.
Last October, during a rally in New Hampshire, Trump said he had no problem being a modern-day Mandela.
“I don’t mind being Nelson Mandela because I’m doing it for a reason,” Trump told the crowd. “We’ve got to save our country from these fascists.”
And on April 6, Trump blasted the gag order Merchan imposed on him and declared that Democrats using an unconstitutional gag order to send him to prison for defending himself from unjust charges would make him a martyr like Mandela.
“Now, we have Merchan, who is not allowing me to talk, thereby violating the Law and the Constitution, all at once. It is so bad what he is trying to get away with – How was he even chosen for this case??? I heard he fought like hell to get it, and all of the rest of them also! If this Partisan Hack wants to put me in the “clink” for speaking the open and obvious TRUTH, I will gladly become a Modern Day Nelson Mandela – It will be my GREAT HONOR. We have to Save our Country from these Political Operatives masquerading as Prosecutors and Judges, and I am willing to sacrifice my Freedom for that worthy cause. We are a Failing Nation, but on November 5th, we will become a Great Nation again. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Democrats desperately want to put him in prison.
But the more the American people see that this case is really the Democrat Party putting Donald Trump on trial, the more it will backfire politically.
