A top Democrat gave his party a reality check about Elon Musk that left them fuming

Democrats have turned Elon Musk into their new boogeyman.
They are trying to portray him as a James Bond villain.
And a top Democrat gave his party a reality check about Elon Musk that left them fuming.
Former House Democrat tells his party to give up fighting Elon Musk
Former Representative Dean Phillips (D-MN) sounded the alarm on former President Joe Biden’s age being a huge liability in the 2024 Election.
He launched a doomed Primary challenge against Biden.
Phillips was one of the first Democrats to publicly speak out against Biden.
Now, he’s warning his party about its fight with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Phillips told Democrats they would be better off working with Musk to eliminate government waste than opposing him during an appearance on CNN.
“Unfortunately, Democrats are only focused on one thing right now: Mr. Musk,” Phillips said. “The fact of the matter, he’s quite popular. He has the largest platform in human history which is, of course, Twitter/X.”
He claimed that Democrats were better off joining Musk because they were getting “steamrolled” opposing him.
“I think we’re missing the boat as Democrats,” Phillips explained. “All I’m saying is that sometimes, it’s better to join them and actually play a role in how the strategy works rather than so pathetically, frankly, try to combat something that clearly is a steamroller. And Democrats are being steamrolled.”
Democrats are embarrassing themselves by fighting Elon Musk
Representative Robert Garcia (D-CA) went on CNN and called Musk a “d***” for his work with DOGE.
Phillips said that name-calling wasn’t working out for Democrats.
“I got to tell you, I was really embarrassed for my Democratic colleagues, Mr. Garcia and others, because the fact of the matter is this is not playing well around the country,” Phillips stated. “People want the government to work better. They believe that Mr. Musk, one of the most extraordinary entrepreneurs in human history, who does not fail at just about anything, they want him to do this, most Americans. They wanted Trump. They elected him.”
Cutting government waste is an incredibly popular idea that should have bipartisan support, but Democrats are determined to fight Musk and President Donald Trump every step of the way.
“And I just would hope that my Democratic colleagues might change the strategy and perhaps actually work with Republicans to identify waste and fraud and actually attack that because then they would have some more credibility as it relates to the constitutional issues,” Phillips said.
The former Representative admitted he was concerned by the leadership of the Democrat Party.
“Look, if I could wave my magic wand, I would also identify ways to reduce waste in the federal government,” Phillips explained. “When I ran for President, Laura, that was one of my propositions, to engage one of the world’s foremost consulting firms to literally look at the entire federal budget and make thoughtful recommendations to Congress about how we could actually become more efficient, more effective, and that was a proposition of mine.”
Democrats think that attacking Musk is a way to damage Trump politically.
But an Axios focus group of swing voters in Arizona found that 80% supported Musk’s efforts to cut government waste.
