Newly Declassified Files Show How Far Biden’s FBI Crossed the Line With Operation Snooping on Barron Trump

The FBI raided Mar-a-Lago in August 2022 to target Trump.

Newly declassified records show agents went to great lengths to make it happen, surveilling the once and future First Family as part of Operation Plasmic Echo.

And it wasn’t just Trump and his family but his soon to be chief of staff Susie Wiles too.

A Planning Document Ordered Agents to Map a Teenager's Flight Schedule

The White House's Government Transparency Task Force released a batch of declassified records on October 5 detailing an investigation the FBI and Justice Department ran under the codename "Plasmic Echo."

The files trace back to the classified documents probe Attorney General Merrick Garland handed to Special Counsel Jack Smith in November 2022.

One planning document, dated in late May 2022, directed agents to "finalize FBI understanding of FPOTUS/FLOTUS/minor son's travel," using aircraft type and timeline, according to the declassified records.

Barron Trump was 16 years old at the time.

Agents searched Mar-a-Lago on August 8, 2022, seizing thousands of records, including material marked top secret, after confirming the family would not be there.

White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis said: "Jack Smith's surveillance operation was a disgraceful abuse of government power. Spying on political opponents is weaponization of law enforcement, plain and simple. Those responsible must be held accountable."

Then Investigators Put a Tap on Trump's Campaign Manager

The same batch of records shows Jack Smith's team obtained a pen register and trap and trace device on Susie Wiles' phone, logging the metadata of her calls from February through May 2023, while she ran Donald Trump's 2024 campaign.

A pen register does not record what was said, only who called whom and for how long.

That distinction will not make the list of names any easier to read.

Investigators logged calls between Wiles and roughly 21 Trump affiliated contacts, including defense lawyers, campaign aides, political advisers, and at least five journalists, according to the released records.

A March 10, 2023 FBI memo ran three pages logging Wiles' phone contacts, including a 41 second call from one of Trump's defense lawyers.

A separate review tracked her call activity around her April 7, 2023 interview with Smith's team.

Two of the logged contacts were left unredacted in the released files: FBI Director Kash Patel and Just the News founder John Solomon.

A Trump administration official described the monitored contacts as protected First Amendment activity, caught in a federal surveillance net anyway.

This Is What a Weaponized Investigation Leaves Behind

Jack Smith's office has not publicly responded to the newly declassified records, and the documents do not show whether a judge ever questioned the scope of the surveillance before signing off on it.

A pen register on a presidential campaign manager's phone does not just capture her calls.

It captures every lawyer, adviser, and reporter who called her back, whether or not any of them had anything to do with the underlying investigation.

A sixteen year old does not get a vote on who studies his flight schedule.

He got mapped anyway, so agents could pick the exact week his house would sit empty.

That same investigation then built a contact web off his father's campaign manager's phone, one that swept up journalists who never set foot near a courtroom.

None of that required a single new law.

It only required people willing to sign off on it, and the declassified files name the office that did.
