Scott Jennings Destroyed CNN’s Sarah Sidner The Moment She Blamed ICE For the Manhattan Firebombing
An anti-ICE extremist poured gasoline outside a federal building in Manhattan and set it on fire Monday morning.
Hours later a CNN anchor looked at Scott Jennings and asked whether ICE was actually to blame for it.
What Jennings said next left her with absolutely nothing to say.
CNN Anchor Suggests ICE Provoked The Attack On Its Own Building
Andrew Arrabaca is a 43-year-old Army veteran from Poughkeepsie, New York.
On Monday morning he showed up at the employee entrance of 26 Federal Plaza pushing a cart stocked with two axes, a machete, three knives, a hammer and six fireworks.
Flames and black smoke shot into the Manhattan sky after he doused the pavement in gasoline and lit it, then triggered a firework canister for good measure.
He also pulled an airsoft rifle and fired five to seven pellets toward the building.
A civilian and two federal employees were hurt in the chaos.
FBI Assistant Director James Barnacle said Arrabaca rolled his weapons in on a cart marked with anti-ICE signage and called him exactly what the evidence shows – an anti-government extremist who came ready to hurt people.
That night, CNN's Sarah Sidner sat across from Scott Jennings on "NewsNight" and wondered aloud whether ICE's own conduct was what had people "talking like this."
Translation – maybe ICE brought the firebomb on itself.
Jennings Shuts Down The Blame Game In Under Thirty Seconds
Jennings did not blink.
He laid Sidner's own logic back at her in one sentence.
If you dislike what a federal agency is doing, he said, you have three choices – vote, use your words, or set off an incendiary device at a federal building.
Arrabaca picked option three.
"There's no justification for this," Jennings said, and the debate was over.
Sidner had no comeback.
Democrat commentator Keith Boykin tried to jump in and pivot straight to Donald Trump instead.
Nobody on that panel mentioned that ICE officers are facing an 1,150 percent surge in assaults against them over the past eleven months, according to DHS numbers reported by Fox News.
Nobody mentioned Portland, where federal officials say their ICE facility has come under nightly attack for more than 100 consecutive nights.
Nobody mentioned last year's Dallas ICE facility shooting, where investigators found shell casings stamped with the words "ANTI-ICE."
CNN had an entire show's worth of stories it could have used to explain Monday's attack.
It picked the one where ICE is the villain and a man carrying two axes and a hammer is just a symptom.
Who Andrew Arrabaca Really Is
Arrabaca did not snap overnight.
He served in the Army from 2001 to 2005 working on Patriot missile systems.
Records show he petitioned the EPA back in 2013 over fuel consumption and put his name on a New York climate pledge the following year.
By this week he'd traded petitions for a cart full of weapons.
Investigators traced his movements to Sunday night, when he rode the subway to Penn Station, spent hours near the Holland Tunnel, and turned up outside 26 Federal Plaza as the sun came up.
Barnacle said Arrabaca told investigators afterward that he was fine hurting or killing people that morning.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the incident deeply unsettling and said his office would work with federal investigators.
That is the correct response.
It is also the response CNN's own primetime lineup couldn't quite manage a few hours later.
The Media's Playbook Hasn't Changed Since Portland
This was not a one-off gaffe from Sidner.
It is the same script the corporate media has run since federal agents became a target of the radical left.
Blame the badge, not the bomber.
Frame every attack on law enforcement as an understandable reaction to Donald Trump's immigration agenda.
Never once ask why left-wing rhetoric keeps producing men with axes and gasoline instead of voters and op-eds.
Portland has lived this exact pattern for over a year, with agents describing nightly barrages of rocks, fireworks and chemical grenades outside a single ICE building.
Dallas already saw what that rhetoric looks like with a rifle instead of a rock.
Every time, the same anchors reach for the same question instead of asking why an entire movement keeps arriving at violence as its answer.
Jennings gave CNN's audience the only honest answer available Monday night, and that answer still stands – there was no justification, and pretending otherwise only invites the next Arrabaca to grab his own cart of weapons and try again.
