Wife of the Army Veteran Owner of the Trump House Delivered a Heart Wrenching Update

Kerry Sheron spent years turning his Escondido home into one of the most recognizable pro-Trump displays in Southern California.
On Wednesday afternoon, someone beat him to an inch of his life in front of it.
His wife just told reporters about the fading hope he could survive – and what she said will break your heart.
The Trump House Became a Landmark, Then a Crime Scene
If you live in San Diego County, you know the Trump House.
Kerry Sheron, 69, a Vietnam-era Army veteran, covered his Escondido home on Buchanan Street in American flags, pro-Trump banners, and MAGA memorabilia for years.
The place became a landmark – a sign that someone in this neighborhood wasn't afraid to say what he believed.
It also made him a target.
Earlier this year, vandals crept up to the property and destroyed the flags.
Sheron documented it on social media, holding up a shredded American flag. "Somebody decided that our stuff is not good," he said. "They even ripped up the American flag."
Nobody was arrested.
Eleven weeks later, at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, 32-year-old Thomas Caleb Butler showed up.
Escondido police responded to reports of an assault in progress and found Sheron in the street suffering from severe injuries.
Blood on the curb.
A utility worker who tried to intervene was also hurt.
Butler – who lived just a few blocks from the Trump House – fled on foot and was caught half a mile away.
He is now sitting in the Vista Detention Facility on a first-degree attempted murder charge, held without bail, facing life in prison if convicted.
His Wife Said the Words No Spouse Should Ever Have to Say
Kerry Sheron is in the ICU at a local trauma center.
His wife stood outside that hospital and delivered the update that has stunned everyone who knew him.
His chances of survival are "slim to none," she said.
There is "no hope" for his recovery.
This is a 69-year-old man who served his country, came home, flew his flag, and is now fighting – and losing – a battle he never asked for.
His arraignment is scheduled for Friday.
His attacker will be in a courtroom.
Kerry Sheron will still be in the ICU.
What Happened to Kerry Sheron Deserves Your Attention
Police say the assault does not currently appear to be politically motivated.
In a twist, investigators and people who know Butler describe him as a Trump supporter himself – a registered Republican who had previously told friends he liked the Trump House.
Butler is also a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy.
A family friend told reporters Butler's PTSD had left him paranoid and dangerous – someone who could turn violent when he stopped taking his medication.
None of that brings Kerry Sheron back from the ICU.
A mentally ill man, unraveling, walked up to a 69-year-old Army veteran outside his home and nearly beat him to death while a utility worker tried desperately to stop it.
The VA didn't catch it.
The mental health system didn't catch it.
Nobody caught it – until Kerry Sheron was lying in the street with blood on the curb.
That man served this country.
He came home, built a life, covered his house in flags, and refused to take them down even after vandals destroyed them.
He was still standing in front of that Trump House when Thomas Butler showed up.
His wife Maria is standing outside an ICU door right now with no hope left.
A man who loved his country and wasn't afraid to show it is fighting for his life tonight – and losing.
Pray for Kerry Sheron.
