Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s attack on Trump aged like milk after one bombshell announcement
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants to run for President in 2028.
To help position herself for that campaign, Ocasio-Cortez wants to fight Donald Trump on every front.
And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s attack on Trump aged like milk after one bombshell announcement.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro set off an international incident when he refused to accept two flights from America returning illegal aliens to that country.
After four years of world leaders laughing at Joe Biden, Donald Trump used this act of defiance by Petro to show there was a new sheriff in town.
“I was just informed that two repatriation flights from the United States, with a large number of Illegal Criminals, were not allowed to land in Colombia. This order was given by Colombia’s Socialist President Gustavo Petro, who is already very unpopular amongst his people. Petro’s denial of these flights has jeopardized the National Security and Public Safety of the United States,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Trump then informed Petro that he was immediately levying 25 percent tariffs on all goods imported from Colombia and that those tariffs would rise to 50 percent unless Colombia began accepting repatriation flights of Colombians.
“Emergency 25% tariffs on all goods coming into the United States. In one week, the 25% tariffs will be raised to 50%,” Trump added.
Trump also warned that these sanctions were just the beginning and that if Colombia continued to refuse to take back the illegal aliens there was more pain on the way.
“These measures are just the beginning. We will not allow the Colombian Government to violate its legal obligations with regard to the acceptance and return of the Criminals they forced into the United States!” Trump continued.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is one of the biggest supporters of open borders and amnesty in the Democrat Party.
Even though Joe Biden and Kamala Harris opening the border into the country proved to be one of the most politically disastrous decisions in American history, Ocasio-Cortez isn’t willing to yield one inch.
Ocasio-Cortez sided with the Colombians and claimed Trump’s proposed tariffs would send the price of coffee and flowers skyrocketing since those are Colombia’s main exports to the United States.
“To punish Colombia, Trump is about to make every American pay even more for coffee. Remember: *WE* pay the tariffs, not Colombia. Trump is all about making inflation WORSE for working class Americans, not better. He’s lining the pockets of himself and the billionaire class,” Ocasio-Cortez posted on X.
America only gets about 25 percent of coffee and flowers from Colombia.
Any increase in prices on Colombia flowers and coffee could be made up by other suppliers cutting their prices upon seeing the opportunity to increase the volume of sales to the United States.
But Ocasio-Cortez didn’t need to worry too much.
It only took Petro about 35 minutes to tap out and announce that Colombia would accept repatriation flights of illegal aliens.
“The Government of Colombia, under the direction of President Gustavo Petro, has arranged the presidential plane to facilitate the dignified return of the compatriots who were going to arrive in the country today in the morning, coming from deportation flights,” a statement from Petro’s office read.
