Pope Francis had one reaction to Trump’s inauguration that crossed a big line
Pope Francis has been a longtime critic of Donald Trump.
But the start of a new administration is supposed to be a chance for a new beginning.
And Pope Francis had one reaction to Trump’s inauguration that crossed a big line.
Pope Francis tried to use an interview with Italian television prior to Trump’s inauguration to extend an olive branch to the new President.
But even in trying to be gracious, Pope Francis couldn’t help but sound like some purple haired woke campus protestor by fitting in as many social justice buzzwords as possible into one sound bite.
“Inspired by your nation’s ideals of being a land of opportunity and welcome for all, it is my hope that under your leadership, the American people will prosper and always strive to build a more just society, where there is no room for hatred, discrimination or exclusion,” Pope Francis stated.
Pope Francis then pivoted to attacking Trump, calling his proposed mass deportations a “disgrace.”
Americans don’t agree.
The voters elected Trump after Trump made initiating the largest deportation effort in American history a central campaign promise.
A New York Times poll taken right before Trump assumed the Presidency for a second time found 55 percent supported deporting every single illegal alien living in America.
“That’s not right. That’s not how you solve problems,” Pope Francis stated.
Deporting all illegal aliens would certainly solve the problem of the migrant crisis in America.
Mass deportations would also solve the problem of future illegal immigration, as illegal aliens would see they would get sent back to their home countries and not even bother trying to march on America’s southern border.
This type of rhetoric is nothing new for Pope Francis.
Francis is a true believer in the globalist open borders agenda.
In August 2024, Francis claimed that “systematically working by all means to drive away migrants” amounted to “a grave sin”.
Francis has been hammering Trump for wanting a secure border going back to 2016.
In that campaign, Francis attacked Trump’s faith, falsely claiming that “a person who thinks only about building walls… and not of building bridges, is not Christian”.
“I say only that this man is not Christian if he has said things like that. We must see if he said things in that way and I will give him the benefit of the doubt,” Francis added.
Trump won that election.
And prior to Trump’s election, left-wing government in the Netherlands and Italy fell after a populist revolt against open borders.
Leftist governments in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Germany are also historically unpopular as the backlash to open borders grows.
Francis supports a discredited ideology that only led to crime, misery, and lower standard of living.
No wonder Francis is so angry.
