Mike Johnson just betrayed this key Donald Trump promise that will make you sick
House Speaker Mike Johnson likes to paint himself as Donald Trump’s ally.
But it turns out that Johnson is a typical Swamp creature.
And Mike Johnson just betrayed this key Donald Trump promise that will make you sick.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) dumped a 1,500-page continuing resolution in the laps of Congress just before the deadline for government funding runs out.
Holding a spending bill back until the last minute is a tried and true tactic by the establishment to force Congress to vote for a turd sandwich of a bill, since the only other option is a government shutdown where the press will attack Republicans for stopping the troops from getting paid.
Johnson’s spending bill was a typical abomination that fully funded the Democrat Party’s agenda while doing nothing to cut spending or slash the size and scope of government.
It was emblematic of Johnson’s failed leadership of promising big conservative change, but delivering the votes Joe Biden needs to keep his woke agenda running.
Elon Musk was furious.
“This bill should not pass,” Musk wrote on X.
This spending spree undermined Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency right out the gate by boxing in spending levels for the next four months.
Conservatives were also up in arms.
Texas Congressman Chip Roy slammed Johnson’s spending bill as another example of Republican leadership selling out conservatives and Donald Trump.
“We are just fundamentally unserious about spending. If you have a blank check, you can’t shrink the government. If you can’t shrink the government, you can’t live free,” Roy stated.
Donald Trump campaigned on ending the censorship industrial complex that is attacking free speech online.
But Jonson stabbed Trump in the back.
This bill included a one-year extension for the largest government online censorship operation.
The Washington Examiner’s Gabe Kaminisky reported the bill “includes a one-year extension on the State Department’s Global Engagement Center — the agency me and Matt Taibbi reported has funded speech suppression efforts and is being sued by the Federalist and Daily Wire.”
The State Department’s Global Engagement Center funds the Global Disinformation Index and NewsGuard, two entities that are the most aggressive in pressuring advertisers to blacklist conservative news sites and put them out of business by denying them advertising revenue.
Mike Johnson claimed he was clearing the decks for Donald Trump.
“We got to get this done because here’s the key — By doing this, we are clearing the decks and we are setting up for Trump to come in, roaring back with the America First agenda. That’s what we’re going to run with gusto beginning January 3rd, when we start the new Congress, when Republicans again rent control and all of our fiscal conservative friends, I’m one of them, will be able to finally do the things that we have been wanting to do for the last couple of years,” Johnson stated.
But this bill extends funding until the middle of March, meaning Johnson just guaranteed Trump’s first 100 days in office will get tied up in another government funding fight rather than hit the ground running to pass priority bills to secure the border, unleash American energy, and extend the 2017 tax cuts, which will ignite another economic boom like in Trump’s first term.
