Nancy Pelosi refuses to commit to more spending for Trump’s Secret Service detail

Despite former President Donald Trump surviving two assassination attempts -including one where an assassin shot him in the head – former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) refused to endorse increased funding for his Secret Service detail.

Pelosi told Semafor’s Kadia Gob that she needed to see how the money would get spent before she signed on.

“Well, I think we should if that’s what they — they have to show — you know, I’m an appropriator, so we always [seek] justification. What is your mission? That’s the first thing. What is the mission? What are the needs?” Pelosi stated.

She claimed the country couldn’t afford to shift security from President Joe Biden to Trump as a stop-gap solution. 

“And if those needs are not being met — I certainly don’t think, as is what’s happening now, that we could go for any long period of time where they’re saying we’re taking Secret Service away from Joe Biden and giving it to Donald Trump because Joe Biden is not doing as much campaigning as Donald Trump,” Pelosi rambled.

Pelosi claimed she couldn’t vote in favor of more money for Trump’s security detail until she saw how it would get spent.

“No, what is the mission? And if they need more money, again, as an appropriator, we want to see the mission, the need and the oversight of how that money is spent,” Pelosi concluded. “But we certainly have to have our presidents and our candidates for presidents protected.”

The absurdity of Pelosi’s argument

Donald Trump’s nearly been murdered twice.

When he was President no one got a gun close to him.

Now that he is a candidate with a lighter detail two gunmen brought rifles within several hundred yards of him.

One got a shot off that came within a quarter inch of tragedy.

Critics contend Pelosi is giving Trump a hard time about security because of her personal animus towards him.

Pelosi infamously ripped up Trump’s State of the Union speech when she was Speaker of the House.

She then impeached Trump twice in two partisan hoaxes.

Then Pelosi put together the January 6 witch hunt committee to try and jail him.

Critics contend that Pelosi is only slow walking on supporting more money for Trump’s security out of spite.

She still clings to the false claim that Donald Trump incited an insurrection on January 6.

“I think that we saw very clearly that if a president of the United States wants to encourage an insurrection on the Capitol of the United States, then we’ll need to protect it further,” Pelosi told Gorba “People were injured, over 100 Capitol Police injured, attacked by these people. They were coming after me to put a bullet in my foul word head and they had a noose for the vice president, and the president wouldn’t send the National Guard.”

That’s what this is all about.

Nancy Pelosi knows more money for Trump’s security detail will go towards his security.

But her bitterness is getting in the way.
