Elon Musk endorsed Donald Trump and is one of his biggest boosters.

But now he’s facing scrutiny.

And now Kamala Harris can throw Elon Musk in jail for this joke.

Secret Service investigates Elon Musk over social media post

After the second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump a user on X with the handle DogeDesigner posted, “Why they want to kill Donald Trump?”

X owner Elon Musk shared the post and wrote, “And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala.”

That joke now has the Secret Service looking into Musk.

Bloomberg’s FOIA Files sent Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to the Secret Service’s Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division, Office of Protective Operations, and Office of Investigations for documents of any investigation into Musk for threatening Vice President Kamala Harris or President Joe Biden.

The Secret Service – as it should – checks into every threat against the President and Vice President.

And FOIA Files found the agency did open an investigation into Musk.

“On Wednesday, the agency responded to the requests by saying records it has about Musk’s post were ‘compiled for law enforcement purposes’ and are being withheld because ‘disclosure could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings,’” Bloomberg reported.

Secret Service Spokesman Nate Herring told FOIA Files that the agency “is aware of the social media post made by Elon Musk.”

Herring added “As a matter of practice, we do not comment on matters involving protective intelligence. We can say, however, that the Secret Service investigates all threats related to our protectees.”

Musk later deleted his post and said next time he won’t share inside jokes from his group chat with the world.

“Well, one lesson I’ve learned is that just because I say something to a group and they laugh doesn’t mean it’s going to be all that hilarious as a post on X,” Musk posted on X.

“Turns out that jokes are WAY less funny if people don’t know the context and the delivery is plain text,” Musk added.

Questions remain about the Secret Service protection for Donald Trump

The Secret Service cracking down on Elon Musk after two attempts on Donald Trump’s life had critics questioning the allocation of resources.

An assassin shot Donald Trump in the head at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 after horrific lapses in security where he had inexperienced and lightly trained Homeland Security agents on his detail.

This assassination attempt came after the Biden-Harris administration turned down multiple requests from the Trump team for more security.

A second gunman brought a rifle onto Trump’s home golf course and was within several hundred yards of Trump.

There are big-time questions about why Trump didn’t have the Secret Service detail of a sitting President and instead traveled with a bare-bones crew that twice left him vulnerable to assassination attempts.
