She’s in the middle of a record-breaking tour and just dropped a new album.
But Taylor Swift is under fire for this one lyric.
Swift’s fans go nuts over lyric saying she wants to live in the 1830s
Pop superstar Taylor Swift proved herself the master at generating buzz and media hype by making the surprise announcement that her 11th studio album The Tortured Poet’s Department would release at midnight on April 19.
The 31-track opus soon became a smash hit becoming the first album to record more than 300 million streams on Spotify in history.
Billboard reported that The Tortured Poet’s Department sold the equivalent of 1.6 million albums on its first day.
But not all of Swift’s fans or critics were happy.
A group of woke online lunatics zeroed in on the track “I Hate It Here” where Swift made her statement in nostalgia.
“My friends used to play a game where / We would pick a decade / We wished we could live in instead of this / I’d say the 1830s but without all the racists / And getting married off for the highest bid,” Swift sang.
Even though Swift condemned racism, brain-broken leftists complained she pined for the year 1830 when President Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act and slavery was still legal.

Critics offer scathing review
The alternative music outlet NME dissed Swift’s new album saying she produced this album just for the sake of producing content.
NME’s review focused on her rehashing a familiar theme in past albums which is her displeasure with facing public criticism of her work.
“Swift seems to be in tireless pursuit for superstardom, yet the negative public opinion it can come with irks her, and it’s a tired theme now plaguing her discography and leaving little room for the poignant lyrical observations she excels at,” the review read.
“To a Melbourne audience of her Eras Tour, Swift said that The Tortured Poets Department came from a ‘need’ to write. It’s just that maybe we didn’t need to hear it,” the review continued.
Swift hinted new album was coming
When Swift accepted her Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights at the 2024 Award Show on February 4, she told fans a new album was in the works.
“I’ve been working on Tortured Poets since right after I turned in Midnights,” Swift stated. “So, I started working on it immediately after that, and I’ve been working on it for about two years. I kept working on it throughout the U.S. tour, and when it was perfect in my opinion – when it was good enough for you – I finished it.”
Days later Swift then released the track list on social media.
The drip-drip-drip of clues allowed fans to build anticipation for the album – which despite the sniping from the online outrage mob and some critics – was her biggest smash hit on record.
