Hunter Biden is now a convicted felon.

But the scandal surrounding his conduct is still building.

And Donald Trump has one shocking surprise in store for Hunter Biden.

Hunter Biden’s fate

A jury in Wilmington, Delaware, convicted Hunter Biden on three counts related to lying on a federal background check form when he purchased a handgun in 2018.

Biden falsely claimed he wasn’t addicted to drugs at the time of the purchase when his own memoir and evidence from his laptop showed he was a narcotics user.

Hunter Biden now faces sentencing.

CNN’s Erica Hill asked former Trump campaign advisor David Urban about President Joe Biden’s pledge not to pardon Hunter Biden.

“President Biden said he will not pardon Hunter Biden,” Hill began.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre – Hill noted – conspicuously didn’t rule out the possibility of Biden commuting his son’s sentence.

“The White House wouldn’t rule out a commutation of an eventual sentence. Do you see a difference between the two?” Hill asked.

“I think that’s all too cute by half, Erica,” Urban answered.

A pardon means the crime goes away.

Hunter Biden can then vote again.

He can resume owning firearms.

Commuting the sentence means Hunter Biden won’t serve a day in prison, but that he will have to identify as a convicted felon for the rest of his life.

Could Donald Trump surprise everyone?

Urban thought the difference between a pardon and commutation was too cute by half because the end result was still the same – Hunter Biden wouldn’t spend one day in prison.

And despite what he said about promising to not pardon Hunter, no one seriously believes Joe Biden is going to let his only surviving son spend one second in federal prison.

Urban had an idea of his own.

And it played to former President Donald Trump’s capacity to pull off the unexpected.

Trump – Urban argued – could flip the issue and come looking like the hero by promising at the June 27 debate to pardon Hunter Biden if he wins in November.

“You’re either gonna do it or you’re not gonna do it. Listen, what I’d like to see happen is I’d like to see President Trump come out with a statement saying, ‘Look, if Hunter Biden commits to a program of sobriety and inpatient or maybe outpatient, shows up, keeps his sobriety. I’ll pardon him.’ I’d love for President Trump to say that. It would be a magnanimous offer on his part, shows humanity, and really flip the tables on the Democrats,” Urban stated.

Trump promising to pardon Hunter Biden would destroy the media narrative that he’s only running for revenge on Democrats.

It would also force Joe Biden to answer questions about the political persecution of Donald Trump and if he would reciprocate.

Trump’s promise could also make the attempts by Biden to jail his chief political rival right before an election even more shameless and authoritarian.
