Joe Biden announces new scheme to bailout student loans in vote-buying scheme
Ahead of the 2022 Midterm Elections, President Joe Biden issued a patently illegal executive order stealing $430 billion from the Treasury to transfer the student loan debt of Ivy League-educated doctors and lawyers making as much as $249,000 in combined family income to taxpayers.
Polls showed voting enthusiasm lagging with voters age 18 to 29 and Biden hoped this bailout would get them out to the polls.
The strategy worked as Democrats expanded their Senate majority and kept their losses in the House of Representatives to a minimum, blunting the much-ballyhooed red wave.
Biden’s now looking for a repeat.
An NPR/Marist poll found former President Donald Trump leading him by two points among millennial and Gen Z voters.
Fox News’ most recent poll showed Trump thrashing him by 18 points with voters under 30.
That’s why Biden announced another illegal scheme to try and bail out 30,000,000 Americans holding student loan debt.
“The plans announced today, together with the Administration’s past actions, will provide relief to more than 30 million borrowers. These plans would fully eliminate accrued interest for 23 million borrowers, cancel the full amount of student debt for over 4 million borrowers, and provide more than 10 million borrowers with at least $5,000 in debt relief or more. With disproportionately high debt burdens, Black and Latino borrowers will get substantial benefits from this relief,” a White House press release stated.
The Supreme Court stopped Biden’s previous student loan bailout scheme.
A 6 to 3 Supreme Court decision in 2022 halted Biden’s first illegal student bailout scheme for the obvious reason that the power of the purse rests with Congress and they never authorized the President to wipe out student loan debt or transfer the obligation from borrowers to taxpayers.
Fox News legal analyst Greg Jarrett said Biden tried to end-run the Supreme Court, but the same lawless premise underpins his order – namely that Congress never granted him this power.
“What he’s really doing is shredding the Constitution,” Jarrett declared. “He changed his method of loan forgiveness in the latest plan, but the same legal principles that make it unconstitutional still apply. He’s not canceling anything, Lawrence. He’s transferring billions of debt from borrowers to taxpayers. And under the Constitution, only Congress has the power to do that, as the Supreme Court explained in their decision. So, you know, this is a stunning act of contempt. Biden says he doesn’t care about the separation of powers, the law, or the Constitution. So I sort of ask you here, who is the dictator? Who is the threat to democracy?”
But will the Supreme Court step in to stop him?
Biden will try to structure the order to deny anyone standing – the principle that someone needs to prove harm to bring a suit – to prevent anyone from suing him over this power grab.
