Whoopi Goldberg came to Elon Musk’s defense over this drug scandal
Elon Musk is turning into a one of the boogeymen for the Democrat Party.
That’s why what just happened took so many Americans by surprise.
And Whoopi Goldberg came to Elon Musk’s defense over this drug scandal.
A fight over Ozempic
The outgoing Biden administration wants Medicare and Medicaid to cover the cost of weight loss drugs like Ozempic.
Ozempic – and other medications like Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound – are drugs used to treat diabetes and obesity by mimicking the gut releasing the GLP-1 hormone after eating.
Donald Trump’s nominee to serve as the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has spoken out against these drugs, saying Americans could lose weight if they simply ate better.
Kennedy said that “If we just gave good food, three meals a day, to every man, woman and child in our country, we could solve the obesity and diabetes epidemic overnight.”
Elon Musk – maybe the most influential advisor in Donald Trump’s circle – came out forcefully in favor of Ozempic and other weight loss drugs saying nothing would do more to increase American’s lifespans than making GLP drugs affordable.
“Nothing would do more to improve the health, lifespan and quality of life for Americans than making GLP inhibitors super low cost to the public,” Musk posted on X. “Nothing else is even close.”
Musk gets surprising backup
The ladies of The View never have a kind word to say about Musk these days.
Ever since Musk bought Twitter and endorsed Donald Trump, the Left has decided Musk is the personification of evil in the modern world.
But that frosty outlook thawed a bit thanks to Musk’s support for Ozempic.
Whoopi Goldberg argued the obesity epidemic in America went beyond diet.
“This isn’t just about food. This is sometimes people are born genetically larger,” Goldberg stated.
Goldberg also brought up how she began taking Mounjaro when she weighed nearly 300 pounds, and she saw amazing weight loss results.
“You’re setting folks up for shame. That’s what you’re trying — maybe you don’t know you’re doing it. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt. I’m going to say you don’t know, you don’t realize what you do to people when you say stuff like that because it doesn’t work for everybody,” Goldberg added.
Joy Behar dismissed the concerns about side effects – nausea, vomiting and diarrhea – as overblown.
“The side effects are not horrible,” Behar added.
Then audience members heard words they thought would never come out of the mouths of the co-hosts.
“Elon’s right on this,” Alyssa Farah Griffin remarked.
“Elon’s right on this!” Goldberg exclaimed in agreement.
Kennedy even seemed to back down a bit.
In a brief interview with CNBC’s Jim Cramer at the New York Stock Exchange, Kennedy said, “The first line of response should be lifestyle, it should be eating well, making sure that you don’t get obese, and that those GLP drugs have a place.”
