Democrats were initially overjoyed.

Taylor Swift endorses Kamala Harris
Pop star Taylor Swift endorsed President Joe Biden in 2020.
It was only a matter of when she would jump off the sidelines and throw her support behind Vice President Kamala Harris.
Swift chose the immediate aftermath of the debate between former President Donald Trump and Kamala to make her intentions to back the Democrat ticket known.
“I’m voting for [Kamala Harris] because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” Swift posted on Instagram.
Swift explained that the “rights and causes” that she believes in are abortion on demand and the radical transgender ideology.
“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate [Tim Walz], who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades,” Swift added.
She then urged her fans to do their own research and provided a link where they could presumably register to vote as Democrats.
“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story,” Swift continued.
Swift signed off with a dig at U.S. Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) by calling herself a “cat lady,” which was presumably not a reference to her role in the epic 2019 box office flop Cats.
“With love and hope, Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady,” Swift concluded.
Donald Trump responds
Trump reacted to the endorsement during an interview on Fox & Friends and expressed his preference for Swift’s good friend Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is supporting his campaign.
He also predicted that Swift would lose fans over the endorsement.
“Well, I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better … I was not a Taylor Swift fan … she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace,” Trump stated.

The Swift endorsement also may backfire on the Democrats in another respect.
Kamala Harris’ handlers, the media, and the rest of the Democrat Party all wanted the story coming out of the debate being that she destroyed Donald Trump and reduced him to rubble.
The Taylor Swift endorsement is a bright shiny object that the media can’t help but chase.
And the more media oxygen the press devotes to Swift backing her, the less room there will be in the minds of voters for the preferred narrative of the Democrat Party coming out of the debate.
