Michelle Obama is still the most popular Democrat in America.

Kamala Harris is desperate for the former First Lady’s help.

But now Michelle Obama gave Kamala Harris the one brutal answer she didn’t want to hear.

Michelle Obama turns her back at Kamala Harris’ hour of need

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign leaked its internal polling data to CNN to keep the underdog frame around her.

Democrats want voters to see her as the candidate of change as opposed to President Joe Biden’s hand-picked heiress apparent to a broadly unpopular status quo.

But the Kamala campaign’s internal polling also showed former President Donald Trump with 270 Electoral College votes.

“Pennsylvania looks rough, though very possible, by their internal numbers before the debate. North Carolina, disappointing Democrats every election for the last 15 years, is feeling better to them this time around than Arizona, which Biden narrowly won four years ago. Nevada and Georgia both seem possible, though depending on the poll, can take a lot of squinting. Michigan and Wisconsin are looking like the best of the bunch for Harris, according to the campaign’s internal numbers,” CNN reported of the campaign’s internal poll results.

Democrats consider this an all-hands-on-deck moment.

Well, not every Democrat.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama is sitting this one out.

“Former first lady Michelle Obama, who delivered a rallying cry speech in Chicago, is not expected to campaign, instead sticking with her officially non-partisan voter registration efforts,” CNN also reported.

Kamala Harris’ limited campaign

Kamala Harris’ team needs all the help it can get.

In addition to the pre-debate internal polling showing her losing to Trump, the campaign isn’t confident about her prospects going forward.

The campaign’s own internal data suggests that Kamala may get a tiny bump from the debate.

“Harris advisers are spending their days cutting campaign ads from the debate and poring through data that they believe may show she got an important sliver of a bump. An internal summary of the campaign’s ‘dial groups’ measuring immediate reactions, which was described to CNN, says that Harris’ best rated moment was when she spoke about abortion and Trump’s worst rated moment was when he cited a fake story about immigrants eating pets,” CNN also reported.

Kamala’s handlers know any such bump is only temporary and that once the fundamental status quo of the campaign reasserts itself, she is in trouble.

“But a dozen leading Democratic operatives and officials told CNN they worry what will happen if the campaign reverts, as it has done this week after the debate, to the standard rhythm of bus tours and stump speeches and teases of an unconventional interview or two,” the CNN report continued.

Democrats need every arrow in their quiver at the disposal of Kamala Harris this fall.

Michelle Obama sitting on the sidelines deprives Democrats of one of their most potent weapons.
