Democrats and the media finally found the fight they were willing to pick with Donald Trump.
The left threw down the gauntlet on Trump’s 90-day freeze on foreign aid and dismantling the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) discovered that USAID deploys its $44 billion budget to astroturf leftwing political movements across the globe.
The media and Democrats are trying to claim that the DOGE team – working as executive branch employees and at the behest of the President – is somehow a shadow government effecting a coup in the United States.
Louisiana Senator John Kennedy told Fox News host Martha MacCallum that the left’s attacks on Musk and DOGE were designed to distract from the real issue.
“I was paying especially close attention to what the president had to say about reviewing spending. I think it would be fair to say President Trump is dug in like a tick,” Kennedy stated.
Kennedy reminded viewers that Trump campaigned on turning Elon Musk loose to slash trillions of dollars in government spending.
And the idea that the President – who is the head of the executive branch – can’t review executive branch spending is laughable on its face.
“He’s going to continue. He ran on this issue and said ‘If I am elected president, I would review the spending.’ Now, I don’t know how you review the spending without reviewing the spending. No fair-minded person can doubt the president of the United States has the authority to review the spending in the executive Branch. He has delegated that authority to Elon Musk,” Kennedy added.
Kennedy said what really has the left’s hair on fire is the “spending porn” that the left secretly used to fund their political project at taxpayer expense.
“A lot of my Democratic colleagues and most of the members of the tofu crowd are very upset. They’re screaming like Musk stole their dog or something,” Kennedy continued. “But one thing they are not talking about is what Mr. Musk is finding. Just at the USAID, he found hundreds of millions, maybe billions of dollars’ worth of spending porn.”
Before DOGE, the American people had no idea unelected bureaucrats created a clandestine slush fund to dole out billions of dollars a year to what amounted to leftist political strike forces.
The Daily Caller reported that USAID hands out taxpayer money to “programs including a $2 million grant for funding sex-change procedures in Guatemala, $500,000 for LGBT inclusion in Serbian workplaces, $70,000 for a DEI-themed musical in Ireland, a transgender clinic in Vietnam, a similar clinic in India, $46,000 in HIV care for transgender South Africans, $1.5 million more for South African children to ‘learn through play,’ $20,000 for Bulgarians to enjoy a vaguely-defined ‘LGBT-related event’ — programs for which former USAID Administrator Samantha Power said ‘a big pot of money’ wasn’t enough.”
Trump also effectively shuttered USAID by folding it into the State Department and making Secretary of State Marco Rubio Acting Director.
What the Democrat Party and the media is now furious about is USAID spending and foreign aid will now come under a microscope every time the GOP is in power.
The days of weaponizing taxpayer money to funnel into the pockets of fellow travelers to effect a global leftist political revolution are over.
