John Fetterman sealed his own doom with one bad move

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman faced a choice that could determine his political future.
Fetterman chose poorly.
And John Fetterman sealed his own doom with one bad move.
The Democrat Party think tank Third Way – which tries to position the party in the middle – recently organized a meeting of party consultants, staffers, elected officials, and Democrat elites to plot a course forward.
These Democrats saw the broader American culture reject Democrats as woke weirdos who obsessed over pronouns and putting tampons in the men’s bathroom.
“In the wake of this election, where it became so evident that the things that the left was doing and saying deeply hurt Harris and down-ballot Democrats, a lot of people are looking to us, not just Third Way, but the moderates in the party, and saying, ‘We got to do it your way, because the other way ain’t working,’” Third Way’s Matt Bennett told POLITICO of the meetings.
The gathering produced some advice that seemed like basic common sense.
One recommendation was that “Democrats should ban far-left candidate questionnaires and refuse to participate in forums that create ideological purity tests.”
Kamala Harris answering an ACLU questionnaire during her 2020 Presidential campaign where she said she supported taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries for prisoners provided the fodder for the memorable “Kamala is for they/them,” and the Trump campaign pummeled Democrats within the key states.
The meeting produced a consensus that Democrats should “move away from the dominance of small-dollar donors whose preferences may not align with the broader electorate.”
Democrats should also “push back against far-left staffers and groups that exert a disproportionate influence on policy and messaging.”
Staffers and small-dollar donors are the woke extremists pushing fringe positions like men in women’s sports.
For Democrats like John Fetterman, this advice was in one ear and out the other.
At the very first opportunity, Fetterman and the entire Senate Democrat caucus showed they haven’t learned a thing since the election.
Senate Republicans put the “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act” on the floor.
This commonsense legislation would strip federal funding from schools that allowed men to play women’s sports.
A New York Times/Ipsos poll showed 79 percent of Americans support banning biological males from playing women’s sports.
And yet John Fetterman and every Senate Democrat blocked the bill by refusing to vote to break a filibuster.
Alabama Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville expressed disgust that Democrats thwarted passage of a bill that nearly 80 percent of Americans supported.
“This is the third time that I’ve had a vote on this bill. The other two times have failed because we have had almost zero Democrats help to support women and girls in sports,” Tuberville stated.
Fetterman posted on social media that when it came down to a choice between protecting girls or the radical transgender agenda there really wasn’t any choice at all.
“The small handful of trans athletes in PA in a political maelstrom deserve an ally and I am one. Depersonalized as “they/them” in a political ad, but are just schoolchildren. Empty show votes or cruelty on social media aren’t part of a thoughtful, dignified solution,” Fetterman posted on X.
