Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s time in the House of Representatives may be coming to an end.

Ocasio-Cortez entered the House as one of the biggest rising starts in the Democrat Party

And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will leave Congress for a reason no one saw coming.

The Democrat Party is going to have to find a new candidate to run for President in 2028.

There is little chance the party will want to run it back with Kamala Harris.

Many of the names bandied about are the usual suspects – California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker.

But there is one name Democrats are floating as a possible 2028 Presidential contender that no one saw coming.

And that’s New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Donald Trump won two elections by running as an outsider who cut through the media bubble thanks to his authentic and innovative use of social media.

Some Democrats think Ocasio-Cortez could fill that void after the party’s last three nominees – Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris – were all consummate establishment insiders.

“She’s somebody who can cut through the noise and doesn’t talk like Washington,” one Democrat strategist supportive of Ocasio-Cortez running in 2028 told The Hill.

Democrats suffered massive defections among young voters with Trump only losing Americans ages 18-29 54 to 43 percent.

Trump won men ages 18 to 29 outright 49 to 46 percent.

A post-election YouGov survey found 57 percent of 18- to 29-year-olds holding a positive view of Trump.

Some Democrats think Ocasio-Cortez – who would turn 39 in 2028 – could help win back younger voters.

“Democrats say Ocasio-Cortez would be a magnet for young voters and would have little trouble using social media, podcasts and other online tools, as she has been doing since she was elected to Congress in 2018,” The Hill reported.

For her part, Ocasio-Cortez has always had one foot out the door on the House looking for a higher office to run for.

In October 2020 Ocasio-Cortez hinted she was looking for something bigger than just being a member of the House of Representatives.

“I don’t know if I’m really going to be staying in the House forever, or if I do stay in the House, what that would look like,” Ocasio-Cortez stated. “I don’t see myself really staying where I’m at for the rest of my life.”

Should Ocasio-Cortez pull the trigger on a Presidential run she would enter the Democrat field as a political celebrity and with a massive social media presence.

Those are two big cards to play in this current era of politics.

But Ocasio-Cortez also set herself up to be the next Kamala Harris.

Like Kamala, Ocasio-Cortez supports a number of unpopular leftist positions such as defunding the police as well as ICE, banning private health insurance, and the Green New Deal.

If Ocasio-Cortez wins the Democrat Party nomination for President it will show that Democrats learned nothing from the 2024 election.
