Police officers are disrespected in today’s America.

The media and Democrats demonize the men and women in blue.

But a slain cop caused one outpouring of support that will warm your heart.

Killing of New York Police Officer Jonathan Diller causes outrage

Police arrested suspect Guy Rivera in the death of New York City Police Officer Jonathan Diller.

Rivera allegedly shot Diller as he investigated an illegally parked car.

When the public learned that Rivera had been arrested 21 previous times, anger grew at the soft-on-crime Democrat policies that allowed him to roam the street and allegedly gun down a police officer in the line of duty.

The public responds

Every day Americans still respect the police and value the job they do.

Tunnels to Towers Chairman Frank Siller appeared on Fox & Friends with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy.

Tunnels to Towers is a charity that arose out of the 9/11 terrorist attacks to raise money for the families of first responders.

Siller told host Brian Kilmeade that his group would raise money for the family of Officer Diller.

“I spoke to Officer Diller’s widow, Stephanie, and I let her know that the – the country is praying for her. New York most certainly is praying for her. And the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is going to be there for her and that she’s not going to have to never worry about her mortgage again and that we’re going to make sure that we – that we pay it off,” Siller stated.

Barstool raises money for Officer Diller’s family

Portnoy – who’s not known as a political pundit despite making occasional commentary such as telling Fox News host Will Cain it’s a “no-brainer” to support former President Donald Trump over President Joe Biden because he is senile – also helped the family of Officer Diller.

Portnoy announced Barstool was selling “New York’s finest” t-shirts with 100% of the proceeds going to Diller’s family.

Barstool is also raising money directly for Diller’s family and the combined efforts brought in $1.5 million.

“They’re going through so much. But just let her know that we’ll be there to support, exactly like Frank did. It’s a cause that resonates with a lot of people,” Portnoy told Kilmeade. “So, a decent amount of money. And it’s almost, I’m sure, same as Frank, when you talk money and mortgages, it’s a necessity, but it’s hollow. I mean that – that really doesn’t – you know, that doesn’t fill the gap of what just happened, but we will be there financially.”

Portnoy lamented today’s political climate where the Left and the media demonize police as racist killers makes it difficult to support the police.

But he added that it’s important to show appreciation for those who serve and protect because one never knows when they put on that uniform if they will make it home that night.

“I think that’s something a lot of people have – don’t appreciate lately, in the political climate and everything that’s going on,” Portnoy concluded. “But, you know, these servicemen, first responders, all of it, you never know. You never know what’s going to happen when you leave the door, and you got to be — appreciate what they’re doing because stories like this really drive home, this isn’t, you know — anything can happen any day. And the risk they take can’t be understated.”
