Meghan Markle’s Father Pleaded to Meet His Grandkids and Meghan Just Pointed to a 2018 Letter for Why Not

Thomas Markle said in December 2025 that he did not want to die estranged from Meghan.

Seven months later, his son said boxes in their Philippine home sent him straight to the FBI.

And Meghan's answer points to a police letter written years before anyone heard that plea.

Boxes in a Cebu Home Sparked a Philippine Probe

Thomas Markle Sr. is under investigation over allegedly possessing child sexual abuse images, according to Just the News, citing The Sun.

He has not been charged, and he denies the accusation.

The allegation comes from his son, Thomas Markle Jr., who had been living with his father in the Philippines since early 2025.

He was also the one who broke the news of his father's emergency amputation in December 2025, calling the surgery a matter of life or death.

Markle Jr. said he found "hundreds, if not thousands" of images packed into four large boxes alongside old family keepsakes.

He said he came across them while digging through the boxes for a phone.

According to his account, he took what he found to the FBI tip line, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and the Pennsylvania State Police on July 10.

That report went in months before any of it became public.

The Philippine News Agency reported that the country's Department of Justice is investigating an American in his eighties over abuse material allegedly left behind in a Cebu province home.

A Filipino justice official reportedly confirmed that Markle Sr. is the subject and that the department's anti-trafficking task force has the case.

Markle Sr. left the Cebu home in May, months after surgeons amputated his left leg below the knee because of a blood clot.

He told the Daily Mail he has never downloaded anything of the kind.

Meghan Says Scotland Yard Got a Warning in 2018

Meghan answered with a statement to CBS News saying the reports left her deeply distressed.

Then she brought up a letter from the year she married into the royal family.

"In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection," she said.

Royalty and Specialist Protection is the Scotland Yard command that guards the royal family – the same unit protecting Meghan and Harry at the time.

According to Meghan, that letter laid out disturbing allegations against her father.

She said she was assured at the time that the allegations were being investigated.

CBS News asked the Metropolitan Police about her statement, and no response has been reported.

She also said the distance she kept from her father – including keeping him away from her children – was about protecting them.

Meghan Kept the 2018 Letter Quiet While the Tabloids Hammered Her

The public version of the Markle feud started in May 2018, when he let a photo agency stage pictures of him getting ready for the royal wedding.

He later admitted the photos made him look "stupid and hammy."

Meghan's half-sister, Samantha Grant, took the blame and said the photo shoot was her idea.

He skipped the wedding citing heart trouble, and King Charles – then the Prince of Wales – walked Meghan down the aisle instead.

In the years that followed, he gave a string of tabloid and TV interviews blasting Meghan and Harry.

The British press cast Meghan as the cold daughter who froze out her dad.

His health kept failing, including a reported stroke in 2022.

After the amputation, he went public with a second wish: "I want to meet my grandkids."

He said he had never stopped loving her and was still open to reconciling.

A spokesperson confirmed Meghan reached out to him, and her new statement explains why the grandchildren stayed out of reach.

The 2018 letter stayed out of public view until her statement to CBS News.

Meghan let the world believe the rift was about paparazzi photos and wedding drama.

Her critics have every right to ask why she waited until a foreign government opened a case to say a word.

Scotland Yard has even bigger questions to answer.

If Britain's top police force received a letter like that in 2018, the public deserves to know who read it and what officers did next.

None of that is proof against Thomas Markle Sr.

Investigators in the Philippines – not the tabloids, and not a feuding family – will decide what the evidence shows.

Meghan said she wants to see justice done and children protected above everything else.

Eight years of silence – from Meghan and from Scotland Yard – just ran out.
