Bryon Noem Was in Sex Rehab When His Alleged Dominatrix Got a Text She Was Not Expecting

The Text That Blew Up the Rehab Story
On May 17, Bryon Noem allegedly sent a text message to Shy Sotomayor – a dominatrix who says she carried on a nine-year online relationship with him.
"I've been a really bad boy," he wrote.
That message landed seven weeks after the Daily Mail published photos of Bryon posing with giant prosthetic breasts stuffed inside a tight shirt.
Seven weeks after his wife Kristi told the world she was "devastated" and "blindsided."
Seven weeks after Trump himself called the Daily Mail and said, "Wow, that's too bad."
The details came out Tuesday when Sotomayor spoke to a podcast, as first reported by the New York Post.
She says Bryon followed up the text on WhatsApp.
"You obviously are very sick. You need help," she says she told him.
She then sent him a PayPal invoice for $4,500 – money she says he still owes her.
Nine Years. Forty-Five Thousand Dollars. Zero Regret.
Sotomayor estimates Bryon spent up to $45,000 on her services over nine years.
She said he was "a loose cannon" who never worried about getting caught.
"Any time I talked to him and was like, 'Hey, you know, people could find us out' – he was like, 'I don't care,'" she said.
"He just did not care about the consequences."
Sotomayor also revealed that during a phone call in January, she heard Kristi Noem walk in on her husband mid-conversation.
"It was a normal conversation, and all I hear is, 'Who are you talking to?'" Sotomayor recalled.
"And I was just like – that's a woman."
Kristi apparently had no idea.
The Rehab That Wasn't Working
Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly first reported in April that Bryon had enrolled in a 40-day program at Pure Desire Ministries – a Christian organization designed to "stop unwanted behaviors and restore broken relationships."
Sotomayor says she knew about the rehab talk long before Kelly did.
"Since November he's been using rehab as an excuse to not wanting to talk to me, and he never really fell through with it," she told the podcast.
The May 17 text confirms her read.
The Daily Mail – which first broke the story in March – confirmed the phone number used in those conversations belonged to Bryon, with payment records, voice recordings, and a voicemail greeting all tied to him directly.
He told the New York Times when the photos first surfaced: "I will at some point. Today is not the day. I appreciate your heart."
He has not spoken publicly since.
What Doesn't Expire With a Job Change
This was never just a tabloid story.
Marc Polymeropoulos, a former CIA officer, told the Daily Mail when the scandal broke: "If a media organization can find this out, you can assume with a high degree of confidence that a hostile intelligence service knows this as well."
He called it "a tantalizing lead for a hostile intelligence service."
Bryon Noem spent nine years in secret contact with sex workers – paying tens of thousands of dollars, using aliases, and lying to his wife – while Kristi Noem ran the Department of Homeland Security.
The May 17 text means the exposure didn't stop it.
Kristi Noem is now Trump's Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas, coordinating Western Hemisphere security strategy.
