Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is an outspoken critic of the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda that’s taken over the military.
President Donald Trump sent him to the Pentagon to end the wokeness and return the focus to the armed forces’ readiness.
Former President Joe Biden turned the military into a sociology experiment by injecting DEI and wokeness into everything.
The saying “diversity is our strength” has become an article of faith for the woke Left.
Biden’s Defense Department emphasized that left-wing talking point.
Hegseth blasted that incorrect notion during a speech at the Pentagon auditorium.
“I think the single dumbest phrase in military history is ‘our diversity is our strength,’” Hegseth explained. “I think our strength is our unity. Our strength is our shared purpose, regardless of our background, regardless of how we grew up, regardless of our gender, regardless of our race.”
Unity and cohesiveness are how the military is successful, not a woke talking point.
“In this department, we will treat everyone equally. We will treat everyone with fairness. We will treat everyone with respect, and we will judge you as an individual by your merit and by your commitment to the team and the mission,” Hegseth said. “That’s how it has been and that’s how it will be. Any inference otherwise is meant to divide or create complications that otherwise should not and do not exist.”
The Left is obsessed with diversity over everything as the guiding principle for every organization.
Hegseth begins removing DEI from the military
The Defense Secretary announced that DEI was on its way out the door at the nation’s service academies.
Hegseth met with the leadership of the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, and the United States Military Academy at West Point.
“My message was simple: stick to leadership, standards, excellence, war fighting, and readiness,” Hegseth wrote on X. “These are MILITARY ACADEMIES, not civilian universities.”
“I was impressed by the changes already underway and look forward to visiting each institution. Social Justice and DEI are OUT; History, Engineering, and War Studies are IN,” Hegseth continued. “We must restore the warrior ethos to the [Department of Defense] — and it starts with our future leaders.”
Hegseth has gone about pulling DEI out of the military by the root.
He banned the use of DEI criteria for promotions and hiring in the military.
The use of DEI, Critical Race Theory (CRT), and radical gender ideologies in training for soldiers was also outlawed.
Soldiers were going to seminars on proper pronoun usage under the Biden administration.
Hegseth stressed that the military would project strength under his leadership.
“Chaos happens when the perception of American strength is not complete,” Hegseth said. “And so we aim to reestablish that deterrence.”
Wokeness is on the way out of the military under the leadership of Pete Hegseth.
