Bill Clinton had one scary warning for Democrats that left them feeling sick
Bill Clinton is one of the elder statesmen in the Democrat Party.
He knows how to spot a problem from a mile away.
And Bill Clinton had one scary warning for Democrats that left them feeling sick.
Bill Clinton warns Democrats out of touch with voters
President Bill Clinton spotted the problems with Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign this year and tried to warn her.
Kamala was getting pummeled by the Trump campaign with an ad that attacked her for her support for transgender surgeries for illegal aliens and death row inmates.
Clinton urged her campaign to come up with some sort of response to this but was ignored.
This election saw the bottom continue to fall out with Democrats in rural areas across the country.
Kamala lost by historic margins in countless rural counties.
Clinton campaigned in rural areas in swing states for her this election with smaller events where he could show off his touch at retail politics.
The former President admitted during an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe that Democrats had become out of touch with voters.
“Politics is the only business in which you can prove your authenticity by not knowing anything,” Clinton said. “And I think that’s a problem, and we’ll pay for it unless we get over it. But that’s a problem for the Democrats too. We have to learn to talk to people in ways that they can relate to.”
Clinton revealed that during his campaigning this year in rural areas, there was a big disconnect between voters and the Democrat Party.
Democrats are getting left in the dust in the internet age
This election confirmed the power that new media like podcasts, streaming, and the internet have.
Mainstream media outlets such as broadcast news, newspapers, and cable news networks like CNN and MSNBC are declining in power as more Americans cut the cord.
Clinton admitted that conservatives have done a better job with digital media and that rural voters are “highly sophisticated” in where they get their information.
“I did my best to help this time, I don’t want to go to any big rallies and big television things,” Clinton explained. “I just want to get in the country. Just go out and talk to people.”
Clinton tried to connect with these voters but his message fell flat.
“Because I think that we’re behind in the sense that a lot of the small town and rural people are now highly sophisticated in how they get their information and there are zillions of new websites now, all trying to advance their sort of conservative to right-wing radical cause,” Clinton stated. “And a lot of times, we’re not playing on the same field and we’re not even being heard. So I just said, send me out there, and I’ll see if I can’t do some good. I have no idea if I did, but I tried.”
Conservatives were locked out of the mainstream media for decades, so they were forced to adapt.
In an era where more people are giving up on cable TV and newspapers that puts conservatives on a more even footing in the information war.
