A top pollster told CNN Joe Biden said one word that may cost Kamala Harris the election
Elections tend to break late.
The 2024 contest is no different.
And now a top pollster told CNN Joe Biden said one word that may cost Kamala Harris the election.
Fallout continues to spread from Joe Biden’s ‘garbage’ gaffe
President Joe Biden really stirred up a hornet’s nest when slandered 75 million Trump voters as garbage during a Voto Latino Zoom call.
“And just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico a ‘floating island of garbage.’ Well, let me tell you something. I don’t– I– I don’t know the Puerto Rican that– that I know– or a Puerto Rico, where I’m from– in my home state of Delaware, they’re good, decent, honorable people,” Biden began.
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters– his– his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American,” Biden added.
Biden calling Trump supporters “garbage” dredged up bad memories for Democrats of 2016 when Hillary Clinton insulted them by calling them “deplorables.”
The damage control began immediately.
Fake news media members falsely inserted an apostrophe in Biden’s remarks to claim he was talking about “Trump supporter’s demonization” of Puerto Rico.
Biden’s handlers put something up on social media to try and gaslight the public into thinking he didn’t believe half of his fellow Americans were “garbage.”
“Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage—which is the only word I can think of to describe it. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That’s all I meant to say. The comments at that rally don’t reflect who we are as a nation,” Biden wrote.
Frank Luntz predicts this could be a game-changing gaffe
Pollster Frank Luntz appeared on CNN with a dire warning for Democrats.
He predicted Biden’s “garbage” comment would reverberate across the closing days of the election.
“It’s going to be huge because this is not some comedian saying something stupid and offensive at a rally where he should have been just basically disinvited. This is the President of the United States endorsing his Vice President, saying something — and I know that there’s different interpretations about what he said — it’s still inappropriate. He still shouldn’t be doing it,” began Luntz.
Luntz said the deplorables comment galvanized former President Donald Trump’s support in the closing days of the 2016 Election.
“And I’ve watched Trump already seize this. The ‘basket of deplorables’ was significant, was meaningful in 2016. In 2024, I can promise you that this is going to drive Trump turnout. And he’s doing it already. I can see — I’m sure there’s going to be ads on as soon as tonight about this,” Luntz added.
And Luntz predicted Biden’s comment would have a similar effect on the small sliver of voters who are still undecided and push them toward Trump.,
“This may be a turning point for those final 3% — and that’s all it is — who still need to be persuaded,” Luntz concluded.
