Live television can be a high-wire act.

Americans saw how that could play out in dramatic fashion.

And a Fox anchor cried on the air after receiving this terrible news.

Fox anchor cries over story of seven-year-old who died in Hurricane Helene

Hundreds died in Hurricane Helene.

That death toll will rise as hundreds more are missing.

Megan Drye appeared on Fox Weather to tell the heartbreaking story of how her parents and seven-year-old son Micah were three of those who tragically perished in the storm.

Drye told hosts Stephen Morgan and Marissa Torres about how she lost her son when flood waters swept him away.

When the waters took Micah, Meghan Dyre said how her son didn’t scream for his mother.

Instead, Micah screamed for Jesus.

Meghan told the hosts that he wanted to dress up as a superhero for Halloween, but Micah leaning into his faith at the very end of his life made him her hero.

“I’m so proud of my son because, in his last moments, he wasn’t screaming for me. He was screaming, ‘Jesus, Jesus, save me. Jesus. I hear you. Jesus. I’m calling upon you.’ He wanted to be a superhero. And that was his goal in life. And instead, he’s my hero. He was the smartest, bravest, hopeful, great friend, great son,” Meghan recounted.

Meghan said the fact that her son wanted Jesus at the moment of the unthinkable meant he received some level of comfort and “joy.”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better son. And he was so happy up until the very end when he was screaming for Jesus. And in that moment, I think he found joy,” Meghan added.

At that moment the gravity of the story overwhelmed Torres who burst into tears.

Meghan Drye’s inspiring story of survival

Drye told the hosts that her faith allowed her to survive a life-and-death situation recounting how she spent three hours in the water clinging to vegetation.

But Drye said she finally listened to God telling her to let go.

“In the midst of the chaos, all I heard was God telling me to be still and to stop fighting the water,” Meghan stated. “That was Him, that was prayers. That was prayers that told me to be still and to let the water carry me to where I needed to be rescued.”

Meghan said listening to God’s voice ended up carrying her to safety.

“When I did let go, I heard the voice say, ‘You still don’t fight the water’ and then I ended up in between the two carriers that stuck with me the whole time,” Meghan added.

Meghan Drye told the hosts that her grief is unimaginable but that she knows her faith and the power of prayer will get her through this moment.

“My grief today is unfathomable. I’m sorrowful. I feel broken,” Meghan explained. “But what is the main thing that I take away from grief is the uplifting of all the prayers that I have received.”
