Minnesota Governor Tim Walz posted on X that he accepted CBS News’ invitation for a Vice Presidential debate on October 1 in New York City.

U.S. Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) responded by one-upping Walz.
Not only did he accept the CBS debate for October 1.
But Vance also said he agreed to CNN’s proposed Vice-Presidential debate on September 18 and challenged Walz to show up.
“The American people deserve as many debates as possible, which is why President Trump has challenged Kamala to three of them already. Not only do I accept the CBS debate on October 1st, I accept the CNN debate on September 18th as well. I look forward to seeing you at both!” Vance wrote in response to Walz.

What this challenge by Vance for multiple debates means
Normally, the candidate asking for more debates is the candidate behind.
Former President Donald Trump proposed three debates with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Vance accepted two debate invitations against Walz.
The Trump campaign’s internal polling must clearly show him losing to Kamala both nationally and in the key swing states.
That means the Trump team is looking for moments to reverse the momentum.
The running mate and convention are over meaning the debates are the last big set piece the Trump team has for a game-changing moment that they can control and doesn’t involve hoping events break their way.
Kamala and Walz have both only agreed to one debate.
It’s unlikely they will agree to more.
Kamala just proposed Venezuela-style price controls as her grand plan to defeat inflation.
Price controls are a failed scheme that’s used by banana republic dictators when their economy is collapsing.
Inflation didn’t skyrocket because corporations price-gouged the American people.
Inflation skyrocketed because Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote on a $1.9 trillion spending bill that devalued the dollar.
The more debates there are, the more times Trump and Vance have the opportunity to expose that record before a mass TV audience of tens of millions of Americans.
And that’s why Kamala and Walz only want one debate.
