Republicans are clinging to a slim majority in the House of Representatives.

The GOP got some bad news.

And this top Republican just got rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.

Lauren Boebert undergoes emergency surgery to remove a blood clot

Representative Lauren Boebert’s (R-CO) campaign released a statement saying she checked into a Colorado hospital for surgery to remove a blood clot after experiencing swelling in her leg.

The statement added that doctors diagnosed her with May-Thurner Syndrome, which affects blood flow.

“Yesterday afternoon, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert was admitted to UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland after experiencing severe swelling in her upper left leg. After undergoing a CT Scan, doctors found an acute blood clot and diagnosed her with May-Thurner Syndrome, which is a rare condition that disrupts blood flow. An exact cause is unknown, but dehydration, travel, and extended periods of sitting have all been identified as potential factors in causing symptoms of May-Thurner Syndrome,” a statement from the campaign read.

Boebert thanked the medical staff and promised her constituents she would be back in Congress as soon as possible.

“I want to thank Dr. Rebecca Bade and the entire team at UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies for their great care and providing helpful insight on my recent diagnosis,” Boebert declared. “I’m looking forward to making a full recovery and getting back to Congress to continue fighting for Colorado.”

Her doctor declared the surgery a success and said the condition would not affect her ability to serve in Congress.

“We successfully performed surgery on the Congresswoman this morning and expect her to make a full recovery,” Dr. Bade stated. “Patients with May-Thurner Syndrome who undergo the procedure to restore blood flow are able to live and work just as they have in the past after a brief recovery.”

Boebert’s political future

Boebert’s running in the Primary to replace retiring RINO Representative Ken Buck (R-CO).

Buck is an anti-Trumper and thought he set up his resignation from Congress so a party panel could pick an establishment-friendly replacement to run in the June 25 special election.

But the panel selected Greg Lopez, a conservative who announced he would serve as a placeholder and step down when the winner of the November general election is sworn in.

Boebert’s running in the Primary for the nomination and not having the sitting member competing with her opens the pathway for her to win a seat in Congress.

Buck was an increasingly “Swamp” aligned Republican who defended the criminal prosecutions against former President Donald Trump and opposed impeaching President Joe Biden.

When Boebert announced she was changing districts to run for Buck’s seat, he resigned creating a special election.

Buck was hoping his local party panel would pick someone who would run in both the special and general election.

A sitting member of Congress could potentially box out Boebert and Buck would have loved to see nothing more than keeping a pro-Trump conservative out of the House.
