An insider revealed left-wing media bias is even worse than you think

Every election, the Republican Party fights two opponents.

Their Democrat opponent and the media.

And an insider revealed left-wing media bias is even worse than you think.

Media insider spills secrets about bias at National Public Radio

National Public Radio reporter (NPR) Uri Berliner set off shockwaves across the media with a piece in The Free Press headlined “I’ve Been at NPR for 25 Years. Here’s How We Lost America’s Trust.”

In the essay, Berliner documented how NPR moved from a news outlet with a left-wing bent to an openly partisan institution where reporters thought their number one goal was the advancement of the Democrat Party’s political agenda.

He described how NPR made diversity the outlet’s “North Star,” but it had no ideological diversity as Berliner could not find a single registered Republican in NPR’s D.C. Bureau.

“I found 87 registered Democrats working in editorial positions and zero Republicans.  None,” Berliner wrote.

Partisan and ideological bias run amok

Berliner also explained that radical transgender activists set NPR’s style guide on how to talk about the transgender movement.

“In a document called NPR Transgender Coverage Guidance—disseminated by news management—we’re asked to avoid the term biological sex. (The editorial guidance was prepared with the help of a former staffer of the National Center for Transgender Equality.)” Berliner added.

He documented how NPR buried the lab leak origin story for the pandemic out of fear it would give a political advantage to conservatives who opposed lockdowns and mask mandates and prove Donald Trump was right when as President he lent support to this theory.

“When a colleague on our science desk was asked why they were so dismissive of the lab leak theory, the response was odd. The colleague compared it to the Bush administration’s unfounded argument that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction, apparently meaning we won’t get fooled again. But these two events were not even remotely related. Again, politics were blotting out the curiosity and independence that ought to have been driving our work,” Berliner wrote.

Berliner says he’s received support from inside NPR

Berliner appeared on Chris Cuomo’s NewsNation show where he revealed the surprising fact that he’s received more support from inside NPR than anyone would have expected.

The veteran reporter said there are those inside NPR who want to regain the public trust and understand that unhinged partisan activism – which the press embraced following Donald Trump’s win in 2016 – is the root cause of Americans no longer believing the media.

“I’m not worried. You know, I think people want open dialog. I think people want to have honest debates. And I think, you know, you talked about there’s a hunger for this. Most people are not locked into ideologies. And I think many people are just sick of it. And that’s one of the reasons people distrust so much of the media whether it’s, you know, legacy media, whether it’s conservative media, you know what you’re getting. It’s all pre-digested and spit out to you. You know what the take is going to be. And I think it’s ultimately unsatisfying. And for a vast part of this nation, they don’t want it. So I think I think there’s an opportunity there for much broader perspectives in how we cover the news,” Berliner stated.
