Kamala Harris endorses Joe Biden’s court packing scheme
Shortly after quitting the Presidential race, President Joe Biden announced a scheme to pack the Supreme Court by imposing 18-year term limits on the justices.
Biden’s term limits would go into effect immediately which meant that the only three justices impacted right off the bet were Republican appointees John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito.
A President Kamala Harris could flip the court overnight to a 6-3 Democrat majority.
She swiftly endorsed this attack on democracy.
“President Biden and I strongly believe that the American people must have confidence in the Supreme Court,” a statement from Kamala read.
“Yet today, there is a clear crisis of confidence facing the Supreme Court as its fairness has been called into question after numerous ethics scandals and decision after decision overturning long-standing precedent,” the statement concluded.
Neil Gorsuch claps back
Democrats don’t control the Supreme Court.
So Democrats want to destroy it.
For all the Democrat Party talk about protecting democracy, what they really mean is protecting Democrat ruling power.
Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch saw through this charade and called out Kamala and Joe Biden in an interview with host Shannon Bream on Fox News Sunday.
Gorsuch said Democrats threatening to destroy the independent judiciary was an attempt to destroy what makes American justice unique.
“The independent judiciary means… What does it mean to you as an American? It means that when you’re unpopular, you can get a fair hearing under the law and under the Constitution. If you’re in the majority, you don’t need judges and juries to hear you and protect your rights,” Gorsuch began.
Gorsuch explained that the Supreme Court doesn’t exist to protect only the rights that poll well or that one side of the aisle thinks are important.
The Supreme Court is there as the last defense of the average American when the full force of the federal government targets their fundamental rights.
“You’re popular. It’s there for the moments when the spotlight is on you, when the government is coming after you. And don’t you want a ferociously independent judge and a jury of your peers to make those decisions? Isn’t that your right as an American? And so, I just say, be careful,” Gorsuch concluded.
