Barack Obama picked Joe Biden to be his Vice President.

But that relationship is on the rocks.

And Joe Biden holds this ugly grudge against Barack Obama.

Biden-Obama relationship fractures over the coup attempt

President Joe Biden is still smarting from the coup that forced him off the Democrat Party ticket.

He’s livid that former President Obama never called him up and man-to-man told him he couldn’t win and that he needed to get out of the race.

“Biden also harbors some resentment that Obama — his friend and former boss — did not call him directly to voice his concerns about the campaign in the aftermath of the disastrous Atlanta debate in late June,” POLITICO reports.

After the disastrous June 27 debate, Obama put out a post on social media in support of Biden.

“Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know. But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself. Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the American people straight — and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit. Last night didn’t change that, and it’s why so much is at stake in November,” Obama wrote on X.

But that was the last public comment Obama made.

Biden sat by enraged as Obama’s former aides such as David Axelrod and speechwriters Jon Favreau and Jon Lovett called for him to drop out of the race with no public pushback from his old boss.

“The former president did not try to stir up a movement to dislodge Biden from the top of the ticket, but he also didn’t quell one, much to the dismay of some of those closest to Biden, according to the three people,” POLITICO also reported.

“Biden has long thought that Obama’s staff looked down upon him and the president’s aides still bristle when Obama allies like David Axelrod or the Pod Save America cast criticize the incumbent,” the POLITICO report continued.

It was also widely assumed that actor George Clooney’s op-ed that appeared in the New York Times calling on Biden to end his campaign was also written with Obama’s approval.

A history of tension between Obama and Biden

Despite media claims of a “bromance,” the closeness between Obama and Biden was always overstated.

Biden resented Obama endorsing Hillary Clinton over him in 2016 believing that decision paved the way for former President Donald Trump’s victory.

“Many people around Biden were rankled when, in 2016, Obama made clear he favored Hillary Clinton to succeed him and not his own vice president,” POLITICO reported.

Biden spent his entire life working for the Presidency.

In the span of three weeks, his own party and the press took it away from him.

Those are wounds that will likely never heal.
