Tim Walz’s stolen valor scandal expands
Minnesota Tim Walz’s stolen valor scandal expanded far beyond his false claims of serving in a combat zone.
He repeatedly claimed the rank of Command Sergeant Major despite never earning the promotion due to quitting the National Guard rather than deploying to Iraq.
Two videos of Walz from 2018 and 2009 show him lying about his rank.

The state of Minnesota confirmed to Newsweek that Walz lied about his military record.
“The Minnesota National Guard confirmed Wednesday that Gov. Tim Walz … was demoted and did not retire as a command sergeant major like he has claimed for years, including on his official gubernatorial biography,” a Newsweek report read.
“While Walz temporarily held the title of command sergeant major he ‘retired as a master sergeant in 2005 for benefit purposes because he did not complete additional coursework at the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy,’ Army Lt. Col. Kristen Augé, the Minnesota National Guard’s State Public Affairs Officer, told Just the News,” the Newsweek report stated.
Walz tries to fudge on his deployment
The Command Sergeant Major resume line was also part of his political appeal.
In this ad, not only does Walz lie about his rank, but he also tries to mislead voters by making them think he was deployed to Afghanistan by claiming he retired after a “tour supporting the war in Afghanistan.”

In reality, Walz deployed to Italy.
This wasn’t a one-time mistake.
Walz also falsely claimed to have deployed to Iraq before his first run for Congress in 2006.
Neither Vice President Kamala Harris nor Walz has taken any questions from reporters since they became the Democrat ticket.
Both are in hiding.
Harris doesn’t want to answer questions because she can’t speak coherently without a teleprompter.
And Walz won’t answer questions because stolen valor scandals are something the American people take very seriously.
