When police responded to a 9-1-1 call at a local news anchor’s home they had no idea what they were in for.

The call turned out to be anything but typical.

Police couldn’t believe the sex scandal they discovered at this news anchor’s home.

Local news anchor resigns after being accused of soliciting sex from a 15-year-old

Being a local news anchor means being one of the most trusted voices in a community.

The local news is often the highest-rated program on broadcast affiliates.

Even in today’s digital age, residents still want the local weather, traffic, sports, human interest, and city government corruption stories.

Bill Lunn experienced the highs and lows of that position in the blink of an eye.

He joined KTSB in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 2019.

The station promoted him to news director last year.

Now Lunn is out.

He resigned after police responded to a 9-1-1 call at his house which ended up with an accusation that he was sending inappropriate messages to someone he thought was a 15-year-old girl.

The events

Police arrived at Lunn’s house after he made a frantic 9-1-1 call claiming he was the victim of an attack.

“The investigation began just after 11 a.m. last Wednesday when Lunn called police and reported he was the victim of an assault and battery and there was an attempted theft of his truck at a house in the 9500 block of Chaparral Lane,” KTSB reported.

But that story quickly unraveled.

“Police said they began investigating and determined that is not what happened,” the KTSB story continued.

What police found were three men who claimed to have run an amateur predator sting.

They allegedly posed as a 15-year-old girl who Lunn allegedly sent inappropriate photos and texts to.

The alleged “attack” he reported was the three men confronting him in their own version of NBC’s long-running hit special To Catch a Predator.

“Instead, three men at the house who were conducting their own sting operation provided contradicting information to police. They accused Lunn of sending inappropriate text messages and photos to what he thought was an underage teenage girl,” the KTSB story added.

Lunn’s attorney Dhu Thompson released a statement that professed his innocence without denying the basic account that the men confronted him at his home.

“It is our preliminary understanding that this incident was not the result of a law enforcement investigation, but rather one done by private individuals,” Thompson’s statement began.

“Our primary concern at this time is that law enforcement receives all evidence surrounding this incident so that they can make a thorough and complete review,” Thompson’s statement added.

“Mr. Lunn has cooperated with authorities and vehemently denies any allegations of wrongdoing. It is our hope that after a thorough review of all the evidence surrounding this matter that Mr. Lunn will be shown to be innocent and cleared of all allegations,” Thompson’s statement concluded.
