Hunter Biden was convicted on three federal gun charges.

Joe Biden’s son now faces up to 25 years in prison and $750,000 in fines.

But Matt Gaetz described Hunter Biden’s gun conviction with two words that caught everyone by surprise.

Hunter Biden creating more problems for his dad

Hunter Biden’s history of crack cocaine addiction continues to create headaches for his father’s re-election campaign.

He was found guilty of three felonies for illegally purchasing and possessing a firearm.

The charges are from when he lied about his drug use on a federal firearm background check form in 2018.

“The gun-related charges spawned from Biden’s purchase of a Colt revolver at a Wilmington gun shop in October of 2018,” POLITICO reported. “At the time, prosecutors said, Biden was in the throes of addiction to crack cocaine. It is illegal for drug users to possess guns, and it is illegal to lie on gun-purchasing forms.”

President Joe Biden has repeatedly defended his son and declared his innocence.

“As I said last week, I am the President, but I am also a Dad,” Biden said in a statement after the verdict. “Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today,” the statement continued. “So many families who have had loved ones battle addiction understand the feeling of pride seeing someone you love come out the other side and be so strong and resilient in recovery.”

“As I also said last week, I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal,” Biden concluded.

Of course, Hunter Biden almost avoided going to trial in the first place.

Joe Biden’s allies in the Justice Department offered Hunter a sweetheart plea deal that would have avoided jail time and given him immunity from all other charges, but it all fell apart under the scrutiny of public questioning.

Matt Gaetz gives surprising response to Hunter Biden’s gun charges

While most Republicans cheered the news of Hunter Biden’s conviction, some GOP members of Congress didn’t share the same excitement.

In a post on X, Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) wrote that “Hunter might deserve to be in jail for something, but purchasing a gun is not it.”

“There are millions of marijuana users who own guns in this country, and none of them should be in jail for purchasing or possessing a firearm against current laws,” Massie added.

But Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) offered his view of the conviction with two surprising words.

He called it “kinda dumb.”

“The Hunter Biden gun conviction is kinda dumb tbh,” Gaetz wrote on X.

Gaetz is one of the most conservative members of Congress and one of the biggest opponents of the Biden administration in Washington, D.C.

Hunter Biden deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison, but not for “kinda dumb” gun charges.

Republicans need to take down the Biden crime family instead.
