William Barr got hit with one letter that could end his career
Attorney General William Barr is feeling the heat for reversing a sentencing recommendation for Roger Stone.
Barr’s enemies in the media and Democrat Party believe this is their chance to get rid of Barr.
And now William Barr got hit with one letter that could end his career.
After William Bar announced that United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri Jeffrey Jensen would investigate the FBI’s handling of the Michael Flynn case, new calls for Barr to resign surfaced.
The left wing group Protect Democracy – which was founded by two partisan Democrat lawyers who worked for Barack Obama and liberal Senator Sheldon Whitehouse – produced a letter from 2,000 Department of Justice employees demanding Barr resign.
“Political interference in the conduct of a criminal prosecution is anathema to the Department’s core mission and to its sacred obligation to ensure equal justice under the law,” the letter stated.
This letter claimed Barr was out of line by exercising his authority as head of the Justice Department to rescind an overly harsh sentencing recommendation for Roger Stone.
“Although there are times when political leadership appropriately weighs in on individual prosecutions, it is unheard of for the Department’s top leaders to overrule line prosecutors, who are following established policies, in order to give preferential treatment to a close associate of the President, as Attorney General Barr did in the Stone case,” they wrote.
The letter concluded by demanding Barr resign.
“We call on every DOJ employee to follow their heroic example and be prepared to report future abuses to the Inspector General, the Office of Professional Responsibility, and Congress; to refuse to carry out directives that are inconsistent with their oaths of office; to withdraw from cases that involve such directives or other misconduct; and, if necessary, to resign and report publicly — in a manner consistent with professional ethics — to the American people the reasons for their resignation.”
The timing of this letter was no coincidence.
Former Robert Mueller prosecutor Andrew Weissman warned on MSNBC that Barr appointing Jensen to investigate the Flynn case was a sign that the Justice Department was opening a new criminal investigation into James Comey, Andrew McCabe, and Peter Strzok.
Critics believe that Project Democracy produced this letter in response to discredit Barr and this new investigation.
