Former FBI Director James Comey thought he could get away with posting a veiled threat against Donald Trump.

He never expected this response from a top Trump official.

And Tulsi Gabbard dropped a bombshell about James Comey that has Washington insiders panicking.

Tulsi Gabbard says James Comey belongs in jail

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has taken a hard stance against former FBI Director James Comey’s controversial social media activity, saying his recent post appears to threaten President Donald Trump.

In a fiery interview on Fox News with Jesse Watters, Gabbard didn’t hold back when discussing Comey’s Instagram photo showing seashells arranged to spell “8647” – widely seen as code for eliminating the 47th President, given that “86” is slang for getting rid of someone.

When Watters directly asked if Comey deserves jail time, Gabbard answered affirmatively, expressing serious concern for the President’s safety given Comey’s influential position and the respect he commands from certain segments of the population.

Gabbard dismissed Comey’s claim that he didn’t understand the meaning of “86” in this context. She pointed out the absurdity of such a claim coming from someone with his background in law enforcement, particularly his years prosecuting organized crime figures who commonly use such terminology.

“That is a ridiculous and insane statement to make,” Gabbard told Watters, noting that Comey’s career involved prosecuting “mobsters and gangsters” who use exactly this type of coded language.

Homeland Security takes threat seriously

According to Gabbard, the Department of Homeland Security has launched an investigation into Comey’s social media post, reflecting how seriously the administration is taking the matter.

The DNI emphasized the need for accountability in cases involving threats against the President, especially in the current climate. She referenced a recent Rutgers University study showing alarmingly that over 55 percent of respondents considered violence against President Trump as “somewhat justified” – evidence of what researchers identified as an emerging “assassination culture” among extreme political opponents.

Double standards in political speech

During the interview, Gabbard highlighted the double standard in how threats against public officials are handled, noting that a man who recently threatened her is currently in jail facing criminal charges.

The DNI shared that a person in Georgia who had made threats against her life just a month ago has been properly prosecuted and incarcerated – exactly the kind of accountability she believes should apply to Comey as well.

Gabbard argued that the rule of law demands that people who issue threats against the President face consequences, regardless of their status or previous positions.

Protecting democracy means protecting its leaders

Gabbard placed Comey’s actions within a broader context of anti-democratic sentiment among certain elites who have struggled to accept Trump’s electoral victory.

She described a troubling pattern where influential figures like Comey who compare the President to historical villains or claim he represents an existential threat are effectively encouraging dangerous actions against a democratically elected leader.

“So it’s guys like Comey and others who call the president the modern-day Nazi,” Gabbard explained, who “hate democracy and hate the American people because they cannot stand that the people overwhelmingly chose to elect Donald Trump.”

The DNI warned that threats against presidents must be taken seriously across political divides, as they represent attacks on democracy itself. With Trump having already survived two assassination attempts, Gabbard’s concerns carry particular weight.

As the investigation proceeds, many are watching to see whether the Justice Department will bring formal charges against the former FBI Director, potentially setting a precedent for how similar cases will be handled in the future.
