Attorney General Merrick Garland made the highly-political decision to order an FBI raid of Donald Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago, which only looked like another attempt by Democrats to derail the former President’s expected 2024 re-election campaign.
The FBI used the excuse of searching for classified documents to conduct a search where Garland wanted the Bureau to seize any documents about any subject for the entirety of Trump’s Presidency to try and manufacture criminal charges against him.
Garland and the Democrats also hoped the raid would damage Trump’s political standing.
Instead, polling done by POLITICO/Morning Consult showed a ten-point swing in Trump’s favor among Republicans following the raid.

As for what this all means politically, it appears that Trump is benefitting from a small rally-around-the-flag effect among Republicans:
In mid-July , 53% of Republican voters and Republican-leaning independents said they would vote for Trump if the 2024 primary were being held today.
Our polling today finds Trump with 57%. The next closest candidate is Florida Gov. RON DESANTIS at 17% — down from 23% in the July poll. No other candidate breaks double digits.
The Real Clear Politics polling average shows Trump leading Joe Biden 45 to 42 percent.
If Donald Trump was not leading Biden in the polls and actively considering a run for President, none of these witch hunts would exist.
The Biden administration and its allies want to put Trump in jail because they do not feel confident that Biden can beat him in 2024.
Republicans sense this.
Even conservatives who support Trump but want to move on to another candidate recognize the banana republic tactics on display.
The Biden administration weaponized the justice system to take out a potential opponent and deprive the American people of the ability to freely choose their own leaders.
Democrats and Joe Biden love to blabber on about how they are defending democracy.
In reality, Biden and the Democrats are the ones attacking democracy by deploying the FBI as their political enforcers.
Americans recognize this and it’s why polling data shows a swing towards Trump.
