This massive bombshell left the January 6 Committee in panic mode
The members of the January 6 Committee thought they put together a slam dunk case.
But the Committee was not counting on a smoking gun going public.
And this massive bombshell left the January 6 Committee in panic mode.
The January 6 Committee presented former Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson as their supposed “star witness.”
Hutchinson testified about a White House allegedly in chaos as President Trump fought with his Secret Service agents after the security detail refused to take him to the Capitol.
In her testimony, Hutchinson presented herself as horrified at the conduct of Trump and his supporters.
“We were watching the Capitol building get defaced over a lie. And it was something that was really hard in that moment to digest knowing what I’d been hearing down the hall in the conversations that were happening,” Hutchinson testified.
But that isn’t the whole truth.
In fact, Hutchinson continued to work for Donald Trump for nine weeks after January 6.
Business Insider reports:
Cassidy Hutchinson, the former Trump White House aide who emerged as a star witness for the US House committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, continued working on the former president’s behalf for nine weeks after he left office, according to government records exclusively obtained by Insider.
Hutchinson served as a “coordinator” for Trump’s official, taxpayer-funded post-presidential office from about January 20, 2021, to April 1, 2021, earning an annualized salary of $90,000, the General Services Administration documents state.
The documents establish that Hutchinson continued to earn a government paycheck for work in support of Trump for weeks after she witnessed his actions — and lack of action — on January 6, even as other colleagues resigned soon thereafter.
There were Trump cabinet officials who resigned immediately after January 6.
But Cassidy Hutchinson stuck around.
Text messages revealed that Hutchinson was looking for help with legal fees.
She even mocked the January 6 Committee as well as Joe Biden’s victory over Trump.
Cassidy Hutchinson also told debunked stories about writing a handwritten note for Trump to read telling his supporters to go home, as well as the former President supposedly attempting to choke a Secret Service agent.
Far from being a “bombshell” witness, Cassidy Hutchinson was just another in a long line of media creations that failed to deliver anything close to a knockout blow to Donald Trump.
