Americans were shocked by what happened.

Now the Supreme Court is taking action.

And the Supreme Court is about to ask the FBI to do one thing that will send a key Democrat to jail.

POLITICO published a draft opinion authored by Justice Samuel Alito and joined by Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, and Neil Gorsuch overturning Roe v. Wade.

“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division,” Justice Alito wrote.

“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled . . . It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives,” Justice Alito added.

Never before in modern history has someone leaked a draft opinion.

And the leaker clearly funneled this opinion to the press in a last-ditch effort to pressure one of the conservative Justices into switching their vote and maintaining the horror of abortion-on-demand.

This leak was a direct attack on the legitimacy of the Supreme Court and an attack on American democracy.

CBS News’ Elizabeth Campbell reported that Chief Justice John Roberts took the matter so seriously that he would ask the FBI to conduct an investigation to determine the source of this leak.

“This is an unprecedented leak from SCOTUS. It raises questions about how the institution will ever recover, and how Chief Justice Roberts will respond,” Campbell wrote.

“Sources tonight tell [CBS News’ Jan Crawford] he is likely to order a full-blown investigation, involving the FBI, to determine the source,” Campbell concluded.

Former federal prosecutor Andy McCarthy posted on social media that the Supreme Court should immediately release its opinion on Dobbs v. Women’s Health – the vehicle by which the court will overturn Roe v. Wade – to defeat the purpose of the leak.

If this story is true, the Court should issue its opinion right away. Otherwise the disgraceful leak wins. I would say that if my side lost. If we lose the integrity of the Court’s process, we lose the Court. That should be intolerable to all of us who live the country.

The leaker was likely a left-wing Justice or one of their clerks.

Whoever leaked this document hoped to rerun the successful play from 2012, where a coordinated pressure campaign led to Chief Justice John Roberts folding to the Left and switching his vote from ruling ObamaCare unconstitutional to upholding the law by rewriting the statute’s penalty for not carrying health insurance into a tax.

This time it looks like the Left may not be saved by a spineless Justice.

Instead, the leaker will have to answer to the FBI.
