The Democrats’ big plan to impeach Trump just backfired on national television
The left’s push to impeach Donald Trump recently centered on a secret audio recording made by Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen.
Democrats and journalists were convinced it held the key to proving Trump committed criminal acts.
But the plan backfired on national television when everyone heard what was on the tape.
CNN’s Chris Cuomo obtained a copy of the recording from Cohen’s attorney Lanny Davis.
The CNN host played the recording on his program and America finally got to hear the contents of their conversation about purchasing the story of former Playboy playmate Karen McDougal after McDougal claimed she carried on a year-long affair with Trump back in 2006 when he was the host of NBC’s The Apprentice.
Their conversation went as follows:
COHEN: Correct. So, I’m all over that. And, I spoke to Allen about it, when it comes time for the financing, which will be —
TRUMP: Wait a sec, what financing?
COHEN: Well, I’ll have to pay him something.
TRUMP: Don’t pay with cash.
COHEN: No, no, no, no, no. I got it.
The tape is far from a bombshell.
In fact, it vindicated Trump.
All the conversation shows is a lawyer walking his client through the steps necessary to comply with campaign finance reporting laws.
Secondly, no payment was ever made to acquire McDougal’s story.
Like Russia collusion and the firing of James Comey, the Cohen tape is another fizzled attempt to create a fake news scandal surrounding Trump’s conduct.
