Ron DeSantis was seeing red after a woke college was caught in this awful scandal

Colleges have become factories of woke indoctrination.
Florida is fighting back.
And Ron DeSantis was seeing red after a woke college was caught in this awful scandal.
Florida college cooks up a scheme to get around the state’s DEI ban
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been waging a war on woke in the state’s higher educational system.
College and universities have become cesspools of left-wing indoctrination masquerading as education.
DeSantis signed a bill in 2023 that banned diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs at public colleges and universities.
“If you look at the way this has actually been implemented across the country, DEI is better viewed as standing for discrimination, exclusion, and indoctrination,” DeSantis said at the time. “And that has no place in our public institutions.”
The University of South Florida is skirting the state’s DEI ban.
Accuracy in Media, a conservative watchdog group, recorded an undercover video of South Florida administrator Heather Klisanin explaining a “loophole” the university is using to get around the DEI ban on a woman.
“It is a student-funded area, so it changes some things in regards to what we are able to do because student-funded things are not affected by the changes in regulation and law,” Klisanin explained.
“I was hoping it would be similar here that they weren’t totally getting rid of DEI,” the woman said.
Klisanin explained that the college can do “outreach and education” about DEI, but can no longer fund those initiatives with taxpayer money.
She said the university is having the student government pay for DEI programs to get around the ban.
“Yeah, and even our students, we just have to make sure, like any of our programming and things like that, is mostly done through student government because if it’s student-funded, they can’t stop it. But like, our departments can’t spend any money on that,” Klisanin said.
DeSantis probes DEI loophole
South Florida’s student government is funded with fees collected from students every semester.
The college told Fox News that Klisanin would undergo training after they were confronted with Accuracy in Media’s undercover video.
“As soon as USF was provided the hidden camera video of Heather Klisanin, we began a review of the matter, which is ongoing,” a South Florida spokesman said. “After seeing the video and to ensure USF continues to comply with state and federal laws, USF will require her to complete additional training.”
Accuracy in Media said that the loophole likely violates Florida law.
“However, this ‘loophole’ employed by USF is still likely in violation of state law, because not all student fees are paid through private sources,” Accuracy in Media stated. “As of fall 2022, over 74% of Florida residents enrolled at USF received a taxpayer-funded scholarship through the Bright Futures program.”
DeSantis communications director Bryan Griffin said that the state would be looking into the matter.
“Circumventing state laws & rules prohibiting DEI in public universities is unacceptable. We are looking into the matter and, to the extent public dollars are being used toward DEI, there will be consequences. ‘Additional training’ will not be a sufficient response,” Griffin stated.
Woke colleges aren’t going to give up DEI without a fight.
