One unexpected death just shook up J.D. Vance’s life

Vice President J.D. Vance was blindsided by the news.
Vance was traveling abroad when he learned of the shocking development.
And one unexpected death just shook up J.D. Vance’s life.
Pope Francis dies at 88
On the day after Easter, Pope Francis passed away after suffering for months with several health ailments.
Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, announced the Pope’s passed away at the Casa Santa Marta guesthouse where he lived at the Vatican.
“Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of His Church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage, and universal love, especially in favor of the poorest and most marginalized. With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite merciful love of the One and Triune God,” a statement from Cardinal Farrell read.
The top doctor at the Vatican later released a statement revealing how Pope Francis passed away.
“The stroke led to a coma and “irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse,” Dr. Andrea Arcangeli, the head of the Vatican’s health department,” Yahoo news reported.
The news of Pope Francis’ passing stunned Vice President J.D. Vance.
Vance traveled with his wife Usha and their children to the Vatican to celebrate Easter and attend mass.
After learning of the Pope’s passing Vance posted his condolences on social media which revealed that he met with Pope Francis on Easter Sunday, a meeting that was likely the Pope’s last official act on earth.
“I just learned of the passing of Pope Francis. My heart goes out to the millions of Christians all over the world who loved him. I was happy to see him yesterday, though he was obviously very ill. But I’ll always remember him for the below homily he gave in the very early days of COVID. It was really quite beautiful. May God rest his soul,” Vance wrote on X.
Pope Francis often clashed with President Trump over the issue of immigration.
But President Trump offered nothing but words of sympathy and praise following Francis’ death.
“Rest in Peace Pope Francis! May God Bless him and all who loved him!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump later told the crowd that he issued an executive order lowering the flags to half mast in honor of Pope Francis.
“I just signed an executive order putting the flags of our country… at half-mast in honor of Pope Francis,” Trump stated. “He was a good man. He worked hard. He loved the world. And it’s an honor to do that.”
The College of Cardinals will now meet in a conclave 15 to 20 days following the death of the Pope.
They won’t leave until they have selected a new leader for the Catholic Church.
