One Democrat called to defund the police. You won’t believe what happened next
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her “Squad” declared war on law enforcement.
They are gaining allies across the country.
And one Democrat called to defund the police. You won’t believe what happened next.
Atlanta City Council Antonio Brown is a supporter of defunding the police.
Brown announced he would run for Mayor on a platform of “reimagining police.”
But Councilman Brown found out the hard way that criminals see “reimagining police” as a cue to “reimagine” their crime waves.
Councilman Brown attended an event when four criminals stole his car while Brown was standing right next to it.
“Four people jumped into Councilman Antonio Brown’s car and took off while he was attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Atlanta police confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that they are investigating the vehicle theft,” The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.
“You don’t immediately think, ‘Oh, these kids are going to steal my car,’” Brown told the paper even though one of the carjackers was carrying a gun.
Brown entered the Mayoral election in Atlanta after incumbent Keisha Lance Bottoms announced she would not seek another term.
Lance Bottoms is another Democrat mayor that embraced the Black Lives Matter movement only to see civil society in her city.
Homicides shot up 52 percent and shootings skyrocketed 40 percent in the last year.
Many political observers suspect that Lance Bottoms – who was once rumored to be on Joe Biden’s shortlist for Vice President – bowed out of the race over fears she could not win because of the crime wave sweeping Atlanta.
But Atlanta is no different than other major cities around the country that are seeing crime rates increase.
It’s even beginning to worry liberal pundits like The New York Times’ Ezra Klein who recently expressed concern that if Democrats did not get a handle on crime it would endanger the entire liberal governing project.
