Democrats are scrambling and are in self-preservation mode.

The panic over Joe Biden goes right to the top of the party.

And Nancy Pelosi left Joe Biden mad as hell after one public betrayal.

Nancy Pelosi turns on Joe Biden

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) initially stood by President Joe Biden in the wake of his shambolic debate performance where he stood around as his mouth hung open with a blank look on his face while he rambled through gibberish answers.

“I’m not doing it, and I don’t know anyone who’s doing it,” Pelosi said of calls for Biden to bow out of the race.

After a weekend of bad polling – former President Donald Trump now leads him in blue New Hampshire – as well as the Biden campaign’s poor response – the President went into hiding again after the debate.

He held one public event since Friday where he spoke for four minutes reading off a teleprompter in response to the Supreme Court’s Presidential immunity ruling changed the calculus.

Congressional Democrats now fret over a down-ballot wipeout and the rhetoric is changing.

Appearing on MSNBC, Pelosi opened the door to the idea that Biden suffers from a cognitive condition.

“I think it’s a legitimate question to say is this an episode or is this a condition,” Pelosi stated.

She also floated the idea that Biden’s condition would lead him to be incapable of serving out a full second term if he won re-election.

“It’s going to be up to Joe Biden to do what he thinks… I’m not a doctor, I can’t say what happens 3,4 years down the road, in my experience he will continue to be a great President of the United States,” Pelosi added.

Pelosi then recommended Biden sit down for multiple interviews with journalists to show he can think on his feet and answer questions in unscripted settings.

“Not one, maybe two. I think that is essential for them to do that,” Pelosi concluded.

Why Biden won’t take Pelosi’s advice

Nancy Pelosi didn’t offer any earth-shattering advice.

Any campaign that saw their candidate turn in the performance Biden did would have them out in front of the media for a two-hour press conference and make them available for any interview.

But Biden’s campaign hasn’t done that.

The only time Biden emerged from hiding was at a rally in North Carolina and a brief White House speech.

On both occasions, he spoke from a teleprompter and took no questions from reporters.

Neither event did anything to calm nerves in the Democrat Party.

And Nancy Pelosi’s shifting stance could only be the tip of the iceberg.

Pelosi gave cover for Democrats to openly call for Biden’s removal at the top of the ticket.

Right after Pelosi’s interview Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) became the first elected Democrat to go on the record with his demand that Joe Biden step aside.
