Nancy Pelosi just revealed her first gun control plan and it should concern every American
Democrats think their Midterm victories proved that America wants gun control.
Their most vocal Party leaders want to shred the Second Amendment.
And Nancy Pelosi backed a rule change that gun owners won’t like.
Democrat Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA) is pushing for a rule change that would ban Members of Congress from carrying firearms for protection on Capitol grounds.
And Nancy Pelosi announced her full support.
The Washington Post reports:
A Pelosi spokesman said that, if elected speaker, she would direct authorities to “revisit” the regulations “in the name of ensuring safety and security.”
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Second Amendment Caucus, said any change to existing rules would be about “theatrics” rather than public safety and said it would be hypocritical for Pelosi or other House leaders with a security detail to erode the ability of rank-and-file members to protect themselves.
“It’s proposing to solve a problem that doesn’t exist,” he said. “She’s worried that members aren’t responsible enough to handle a firearm?”
The regulation is in the hands of the Capitol Police Board, a four-member body comprising the sergeants at arms of the House and the Senate, the architect of the Capitol and the chief of the U.S. Capitol Police.
As Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) pointed out, if Pelosi doesn’t trust Members of Congress to carry firearms for self-defense, what does she think about everyday Americans?
Not to mention the fact that this could leave conservative lawmakers vulnerable to violent attacks from leftwing mob protesters.
Just last year Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was brutally beaten by his neighbor.
And it wasn’t long ago that Rep. Steve Scalise (R-TX) was nearly killed by a crazed Bernie Sanders supporter at a baseball practice.
This rule could be the “canary in the coal mine” for Second Amendment supporters.
President Trump has shown willingness to work with anti-gun Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
And he is finalizing a ban on bump stocks.
If Nancy Pelosi’s wish is granted, then the rights of all “bitter clingers” could be next on the chopping block.
