Nancy Pelosi just issued a warning to Trump about his upcoming speech
70 percent of Americans disapprove of the job of Congress.
With Speaker Nancy Pelosi now at the helm, Congress’ approval ratings will plummet further down the toilet.
But she just issued a warning to Trump that she hopes will stop the bleeding.
Speaker Pelosi has asked President Trump to reschedule his State of the Union Address currently set for January 29.
She doesn’t want to give Trump a chance to speak directly to the American people.
Pelosi insisted Trump submit his speech in writing, or cancel his State of the Union altogether.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday asked President Donald Trump to reschedule his State of the Union address — or deliver it in writing — as long as the government remains shut down.
Pelosi said the partial shutdown has hamstrung both the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security, potentially harming the security planning that precedes the primetime address.
“Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29th,” Pelosi wrote in a letter to Trump.
Publicly, Democrats plan to argue that the parties need to focus on addressing the shutdown, now the longest in U.S. history. They’re also concerned about security staff working through a major national event without being paid.
Pelosi claims she’s concerned about security during the government shut down.
That couldn’t be further from the truth.
Speaker Pelosi will still have her security detail in spite of the shut down.
She’s just using that as an excuse to stop President Trump from stating his case for the border wall directly to the American people.
She wants him to submit his speech in writing.
Then the Fake News media can get their hands on it first and spin it to fit their anti-Trump agenda.
