Nancy Pelosi just got some bad news that will make your day
Democrats are counting their chickens before they hatch.
They’re already formulating plans to impeach Trump as if seizing control of the U.S. House is a lock.
But Nancy Pelosi just got some bad news that will make your day.
There is an uprising within the Democratic Party against House Minority Leader Pelosi.
Ohio Democrat Rep. Tim Ryan, appeared on CNN and called for new House leadership after the 2018 election.
The Hill reports:
Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) said Sunday that Democrats need new leadership in the House if they take control of the lower chamber in the midterms, adding that he hasn’t ruled out a run for Speaker.
“I think we do need new leadership,” Ryan told CNN’s “State of the Union.”
When asked if he was the one to provide it, Ryan answered, “I’m not sure. I’m not closing the door on it, but I think it’s time for us to move in another direction.”
“I thought that 18 months ago. I think that today,” he added.
“If we’re going to reach out … to those independent voters, I think we do need some new people going out to make the case.”
Ryan, who challenged House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in a private caucus vote in 2016, has called for a new generation of Democratic leaders.
This is not the first time Rep. Tim Ryan and others have called on Pelosi to step down from leadership.
More moderate members of the House think Pelosi has gone too far to the left.
Meanwhile, candidates such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are frustrated with party leadership for not pushing an outright socialist agenda.
The divides in the Democratic party are beginning to widen and may threaten to destroy any chance of victory they have in the 2018 mid-term elections.
Democrats are paying the price for writing off their traditional working-class base for extreme identity and intersectional politics.
