Nancy Pelosi got some bad news from her own backyard that left Democrats shell shocked
Democrats did not know what hit them.
The latest body blow came from an unexpected source.
And Nancy Pelosi got some bad news from her own backyard that left Democrats shell shocked.
California Congressman Jerry McNerney became the 28th member of the House Democratic Caucus to announce his retirement.
“I am honored that the citizens of California’s 9th Congressional District chose me as their representative in the past five elections, and that those in California’s previous 11th Congressional District gave me the privilege of representing them for three terms,” McNerney wrote on social media announcing his retirement.
Of course, McNerney tried to spin his leaving Congress on a high note.
“I am very proud of the many accomplishments that my staff and I have achieved in Congress, including the creation of a major veteran’s health center facility in San Joaquin County, providing outstanding help for constituents with federal agencies, and securing major investments in infrastructure and public safety, broadband, education, childcare, and health care access,” McNerney added.
But there is one inescapable truth – even Democrats from Pelosi’s home state of California fled for the exits because they believe voters will send them to the minority in November.
So far, 28 Democrats are retiring from Congress, while just 13 Republicans are calling it quits.
Those numbers show what the rank-and-file in each Party think of their chances of running the show in Congress next year.
Democrats face a political environment that grows more toxic every day.
Inflation is still soaring.
Joe Biden refuses to secure the border.
Crime runs rampant in Democrat-controlled cities.
Grocery store shelves sit empty as the supply chain crisis continues to impact America.
And Joe Biden’s promise to “shut down the virus” collapsed as the vaccines do not stop transmission of COVID.
That’s why a recent Quinnipiac poll found only 33 percent of Americans approve of the job Joe Biden is doing as President.
Not every Democrat is retiring because they think they will lose their re-election bid in November.
Many are heading for the exits because they know being in the minority in the House is no fun, and they don’t want to be on the losing end of every vote for at least the next two years.
