Mitch McConnell announced one big surrender on the border crisis
RINO Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell continues to earn the ire of conservatives.
McConnell’s refusal to fight Joe Biden on anything is wearing thin.
And Mitch McConnell announced one big surrender on the border crisis.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) hoped to cut a deal in secret with President Joe Biden and the Democrats to pass some phony border security bill in the hopes that it would be a big enough fig leaf to allow Congress to plunge America deeper into debt to funnel another $61 billion to Ukraine.
Americans are sick of the Washington D.C. “Swamp” treating the Ukrainian border with all urgency and consideration while ignoring the wide-open southern border here in America.
But as the details of McConnell’s border betrayal began to leak out conservatives were furious.
According to reports, the bill McConnell negotiated would allow for at least 1.8 million illegal aliens to enter the country each year.
These illegal aliens would all receive work permits as soon as the Biden administration agreed to ship them to cities and states in America.
The bill also provided amnesty for children of adults working in the United States on HB-1 visas.
Former President Donald Trump slammed the deal as typical McConnell capitulation to the Left and urged Republicans to reject legislation allowing Biden to keep the border open.
“I do not think we should do a Border Deal, at all, unless we get EVERYTHING needed to shut down the INVASION of Millions & Millions of people, many from parts unknown, into our once great, but soon to be great again, Country! Also, I have no doubt that our wonderful Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, will only make a deal that is PERFECT ON THE BORDER. Remember, without Strong Borders and Honest Elections, we don’t have a Country!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Once Trump came out in opposition, the floodgates opened and conservative opposition reached a critical mass where McConnell had to admit his “Swamp” two-step to provide amnesty for illegal aliens and more money for Ukraine was dead.
“I think the border portion is dead,” said one Republican Senator, who cited McConnell’s private remarks to the GOP conference at the Wednesday meeting.
The lawmaker said that McConnell told GOP senators “This has gotten to be a lot more politically difficult than he thought it would be,” The Hill exclusively reported.
Conservatives pointed out Biden doesn’t need any policy changes to secure the border.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) told the Daily Caller that the law is the same now as when Trump was President.
The only thing that changed was the President’s willingness to enforce immigration law.
“I certainly don’t trust Biden with more money or more authority. I think he’s the source of the problem. I often point out that the law hasn’t changed at all between the Trump administration and the Biden administration, and yet we now have record-high border crossings. Everybody knows that the only thing that’s changed is the President and his refusal to enforce the law. In fact, it’s worse than that. It’s the red carpet, you know, I mean, come on over to the cartels to all of the huge caravans, so I’m really, really skeptical that giving him more authority or money is going to do anything, number one. Number two, in terms of some of the items that you mentioned, it sounds like you know more about it than I do, which by the way, it’s typical,” Hawley stated.
