Miley Cyrus Reportedly Delivered The Coldest Snub In Recent Grammy History To Lady Gaga

Hollywood's famous faces have turned award shows into battlegrounds before.
Marlon Brando sent an activist to reject his Oscar, Kanye West stormed the VMAs stage, and Sinead O'Connor boycotted the Grammys entirely.
But Miley Cyrus reportedly just delivered the coldest snub in recent Grammy history to Lady Gaga.
Cameras Caught Cyrus Refusing To Stand During Gaga's Victory
Lady Gaga collected her Grammy for best pop vocal album Sunday night at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
The "Abracadabra" singer beat out Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Teddy Swims, and Miley Cyrus herself for the honor with her album "Mayhem."
Most of the Crypto.com Arena jumped to their feet as Gaga made her way to the stage.
Cyrus stayed glued to her seat in a black leather jacket, eventually offering a few lukewarm claps but refusing to join the standing ovation.
She whispered something to fiancé Maxx Morando while staring straight ahead with what fans called an "icy" expression.
Cameras panned across the audience showing Sabrina Carpenter and other nominees celebrating Gaga's win.
Social media erupted instantly.
"Ummm sorry why is Miley not clapping?" one X user posted.
"Miley not standing up…okay…" another wrote.
"Why the shade to gaga, miley??" a third demanded.
The Real Target Wasn't Lady Gaga
Here's what everyone missed in the rush to declare a pop star feud.
Cyrus wasn't snubbing Gaga at all.
She was sending a message to the man who walked on stage with her – producer Andrew Watt.
Watt produced Gaga's winning "Mayhem" album and collected the award alongside her.
He also produced Cyrus's 2020 album "Plastic Hearts" when the two allegedly had a brief romantic relationship during the sessions.
Fan speculation has centered on rumors that Watt and Cyrus were involved while creating the rock-influenced record that marked her dramatic departure from pop music.
In a 2020 Entertainment Weekly interview, Watt gushed about working with Cyrus.
"I have known Miley for a long time, and I've known her work and paid really close attention to all the stuff she was doing because I was such a fan," Watt told the outlet.
"When she and her team came to me saying that she wanted to lean into her rock vibes a bit more, it was a dream."
Watt served as executive producer on "Plastic Hearts" alongside Cyrus, with the two spending months together in the studio.
Something went wrong between them after those sessions wrapped.
Fans defending Cyrus immediately pointed to her history with Watt.
"Miley was never going to stand up when Watt was on the stage, it had nothing to do with Gaga," one netizen wrote.
"Please learn your history before speaking on her."
Another posted, "Miley shading Andrew Watt not Gaga I'm actually obsessed by it."
The feud mirrors Hollywood's long pattern of behind-the-scenes relationships turning public award shows awkward.
Taylor Swift famously avoided eye contact with ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris at the 2016 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
Drake turned away when his ex-girlfriend Rihanna kissed her then-boyfriend at the 2016 VMAs.
Award show snubs have evolved into a uniquely modern form of celebrity warfare where cameras catch every micro-expression and social media dissects every moment.
Watt's Grammy Night Got Even More Complicated
Andrew Watt didn't just win one Grammy with Lady Gaga on Sunday.
The producer performed during the Ozzy Osbourne tribute alongside Post Malone, Slash, Duff McKagan, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.
He earned five total Grammy nominations and won Producer of the Year at the 2021 Grammys.
His career has exploded since "Plastic Hearts" while working with everyone from Justin Bieber to Pearl Jam to the Rolling Stones.
Cyrus pivoted to her 2023 smash hit "Flowers" – a breakup anthem that won her first two Grammys in 2024 for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
This year Cyrus only scored one nomination for her 2025 album "Something Beautiful" in the same category where Gaga won.
Walking away empty-handed while her former collaborator collected trophies with another pop star clearly stung.
Cyrus spent years building her rock credibility with "Plastic Hearts" before returning to pop music.
Now she's watching the producer who helped create that sound win Grammys with Lady Gaga while she sits in the audience with zero wins for 2026.
The timing couldn't be worse for Cyrus.
She attended the Grammys with Morando, sporting matching black ensembles and sunglasses on the red carpet.
But the cameras caught her looking miserable when Gaga's name was called.
Some of Cyrus's fans rushed to defend her by claiming she was "robbed" and should have won the category over Gaga.

But perhaps she was just thinking how horrible and dark the entertainment industry is and about Lady Gaga’s teacher and that Gaga was singing about the Devil.
